I started drawing when I was around 10 years old and what set me off was a Saturday morning cartoon show called "Josie and the Pussycats" but it wasn't the Pussycats proper that pricked my interest, it was one, non-pussycat but wants ta b but not a pussycat per say but THE pussycat who would then bring about a name change for the group that she would be newly headlining, "Alexandra's Cool Time Cats" So it was Alexandra, with all her scheming, trouble making ways and her unique, white lightning bolt streak through her black ponytailed hair that became my muse. Saturday morning wasn't enough, I wanted more time with her so imagine my delight when I discovered that there was a Pussycats comic book, published monthly that I could buy and reach for any time I needed a fix.Still, I wanted more and so, in the days before internet I decided the only way I could get my Alexandra Cabot fix was to create my own and that's what I did. I had no previous drawing experience or interest so, to learn to draw faces I would trace around nickels and then draw the features in that circle. Triangles for top and lower body and some of the scrawniest arms and legs anyone's seen. So there, I was on my way and with some rather long periods of no drawing at all I've recently returned to pen and ink and discovered Gimp and the last year and a half have been my most prolific since I was 17 and while I do draw other Archie characters and even some things that have nothing to do with Archie, Alexandra remains my number one inspiration.
