People have been asking for more Shovel Knight sprites for a while now, but there were some things that really bothered me about that first one I made. So today, I decided to do a complete overhaul.
So here he is again, Shovel Knight as if he were on the SNES.
Quite satisfied with the outcome. Might do some more soon.
Update: Added the Armor of Chaos and Toad Gear.
Update: Changed some of the palettes.

I cleaned up my gallery and got rid of the old set when I did the new. I wouldn't have called them bad per se, and some are basically the same with a reshade, but I noticed too many flaws to just let them be.
It may seem like a small change but this one for instance was redone from scratch, even if it has the same dimensions as the old. I quite prefer it over the old.
EDIT: Almost forgot the biggest reason I redid these: the entire set now has the SNES palette. Aside from the Enchantress, I still have to get around to her again.

You got rid of them? Real shame, I would've liked to see a "before & after" comparison. But the reason I like some of the older ones more is because in particular, Shovel Knight & Plague Knight seem to have better head & leg sizes in the originals, somewhat closer to the NES originals. Also, Plague Knight's "eye" seems kind of messed up in the newer one. This doesn't apply to all of the characters though; I really like King Knight's new look & the Goldarmor looks great!

I actually decided to redo Shovel Knight from scratch instead of just editing the old because the arms and legs seemed way thicker than the originals. The head remained the same size though, which is a bit smaller compared to the body than the originals. As for Plague Knight, I really didn't like the old one, though I may try and edit the new one a bit. His legs do seem quite short now.
Thanks for the input! Always appreciate proper C&C.

I might upload some before-after stuff to my scraps sooner or later, though I lost a bunch of work when my laptop crashed not that long ago, old and new. In hindsight I probably should have just moved them to scraps in the first place.

Hey Gardow, huge fan of your work!
I just recently made a Shovel Knight sprite myself, and was wondering if you could look at it and give me your thoughts. Of course, if you don't want to or are busy I understand, but your pixel art is so fantastic I'd love to hear your input! I've only been doing pixel art a year, and self taught, so hopefully within some time I could be as good as you! Thank you for reading this, and I wish you the best in the future!

This is incredible!
This has to become a thing. I sequel, perhaps? :3
What colour pallet did you use? The SNES colour pallet? If so, where did you find it? I'd feel a lot better doing sprites if I'm somewhat limited.

Most of the colours come from various MMX sprites, unfortunately I couldn't find any actual complete SNES palette.
