Recently I have entered into a debate on whether love exists or not. I, while single, believe that love exists and that to experience it is the most wondrous feeling in the physical realm, whilst the person I am debating with, who is in a relationship, doesn't believe in love and considers herself more "aware" because of it while considering me optimistic for believing differently. Somebody help me understand here, how can a person who is in a committed relationship not believe in love and someone who is single can? Is it just an overly pessimistic existence that denies an emotional response brought about by another person? I'm just not sure I can understand her position, can someone help me?
