The Railways were a thriving industry at the time. Hundreds, upon hundreds of companies existed across the British Isles, with all of them striving to gain customers, clients, passengers, and goods. Railways were rivals with one another, and would plan out how to serve their customers.
When the Great War broke out in 1914, the British Government made a bold decision, and for the first time ever, the hundreds of companies would be bound together as one single company for the duration of the war.
Because of this, engines were allowed to travel the rails of various other regions for the first time, many of them seeing things they had never seen before, including the likes of a small tank engine from the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway.
Thomas was a small E2 tank engine, and he was a handful for the Railway. He often caused trouble with the likes of several of his siblings, notably rolling up to bigger engines who were taking naps, and blowing his whistle at them, while yelling,
