Duck (Sudrian Chronicles) by Galaxy-Afro Duck (Sudrian Chronicles) by Galaxy-Afro
Montague, better known as Duck by everyone, is the #8 steam engine for Sodor Rail. He was built for the Great Western Railway in March of 1929, and worked at Paddington until 1955, where he was transferred to Sodor to work for the North Western Railway as a shunting engine, as well as the Station Pilot at Tidmouth, replacing Percy, who went off to become the primary goods engine for the Fafarqhar Branch Line, as well as helping to build a bigger harbor at Knapford.

Upon arriving, and showing off his work ethic, the bigger engines decided to take advantage of him, something of which they later came to regret when both he and Percy blocked the swtiches for Tidmouth Sheds! After a stern reprimend for all of the engines from Sir Topham Hatt, there was no nonsense from any engine shortly afterwards!

After showing a Class 08 named Damien around, Duck ended up tricking him, to which Damien responded by spreading lies about the big engines to the troublesome trucks, which led to a conflict that ended with Duck being sent to help out on the Wellsworth Branch Line, while Sir Topham Hatt investigated the issue. Upon finding out that it was Damien, he was sent away in disgrace, and Duck was welcomed back after helping to have prevent a nasty accident.

Afterwards, Duck became a regular Main Line engine, fulfilling duties, such as showing Donald and Douglas around when they arrived, and teaming up with Stepney to put a large diesel in his place. During this time he also welcomed BoCo to the fleet, and even patched things up with Damien after the latter returned to Sodor as a permanet  resident, having been humbled after his previous exile! He even argued with Peter Sam, something of which the latter isn't quite forgiving of!

In 1967, Duck was allowed the Arlesburgh Branch Line to run, and since then Duck has stayed. Even on the branch line, Duck got into many adventures, including meeting the Arlesdale Engines, taking on Bulgy, and even triple heading the express for Gordon with Thomas and Percy when the engines were busy!

In modern times, Duck along with Oliver keep to themselves on their branch line, keeping their Great Western heritage alive, to the point that when the Great Western Railway returned as First Great Western Railway in 1996, following Privitisation, Duck requested to be painted in the colors of the new railway, seeing it as a tribute to his old line. The Hatt Family agreed, and since then all Great Western engines working for Sodor Rail have been painted in the new colors.

This is the first of MANY profiles, which will cover the engines appearing in the Sudrian Chronicles, and I mean ALL of them. It will also be used to showcase new designs for some characters that haven't been revealed yet, including Duck here! ;) ~ Afro

P.S. Ask away for these! They can be requested if the character is in the series! ;)

Duck looks really nice like that, though I miss his signature GWR livery. And I wonder... was the argument with Peter Sam over Duke by chance?

So Duck and Oliver in this universe are not going to wear their proud GWR insignias?

Something I wonder; what would Duck and Oliver look like in Sudric blue?

I tired it, I personally didn't like it. I was going to originally make ALL of the Sudrian Chronicles engines part of the North Western, Sudric Blue, but I didn't like it when I tried.

It's okay, Sudric Blue on everyone would've been quite boring in my opinion, it would take the fun out of designing better and awesome liveries for the engines! ;)

Yeah, it sure would. I guess Awdry's original intention was to have the engines in blue as a house livery. :P

House liveries became a staple for the SkR and CFR later though.

Good point; red and purple, respectively.

Though the SkR shook things up when Rusty arrived painted black and Duke retains his Mid Sodor colours.
