Billy (Sudrian Chronicles) by Galaxy-Afro Billy (Sudrian Chronicles) by Galaxy-Afro
The Wellsworth and Suddery’s original #4. Billy had arrived on the railway in 1913 to fulfill shunting duties as well as the occasional passenger train. From the get-go, Billy had proven himself to one of the most arrogant and stubborn engines to ever grace the rails of the company. He would often ignore the other engines advice, often followed by him snapping at them to “stop telling him what to do!”. Because of this, it was often a well-known and open secret that he didn’t have any reason to be a part of the railway, and plans were made for him to be sold off to another company on the Mainland. This however, never came to be. Financial difficulties proved to be a downside to this plan, and the railway had to keep all the engines that it could. A further incident came in the Winter of 1915. A small passenger train was overdue for its destination, impatience grew, and due to the amount of snow, the original engine was blocked off. The stationmaster, seeing that Billy was the only engine available, decided to take a gamble, and assign the task to Billy. Despite being warned to be careful, Billy took no notice, and stubbornly chose to speed as fast as he could down the Preston Incline. This proved to be a fatal mistake, as the combination of icy rails, darkness, and the lack of lights resulted in Billy rolling off the rails, and crashing himself beyond repair. The tank engine’s carelessness also resulted in the deaths of the entire train, being the passengers, the crew, and the guard. Shortly after his death, it was decided that new regulations would be placed to ensure no further gruesome accidents. However, a spirit has been spotted around Sodor, making many observers wonder if Billy is still around, and if his victims are still being tortured to this day. This is one of many, many unanswered questions concerning the supernatural on Sodor, and it has yet to be proven. ~ Afro
