I am so ready for Summer already. I'm deeply inspired by the fireflies that illuminate the forests near me. I can't wait!
This was just a playful sketch that turned into a gouache experiment. I had never used gouache before but I think I really like it. At least hear the opacity in the color made it easy to make for a fun playful mood. My dream is to one day illustrate a kid's book and I think gouache could be really helpful in getting there.

I like the warm orange shades in this.
The thing about children's books is that you can use almost any medium like watercolor or even oils and still give it a playful mood, so don't feel like you need to limit yourself. Sky is the limit.
