Part 3: Oops. I Forgot.
“Hmm…someone I really really like…” Rigley murmured as he helped out his fellow Rescuers place the plants into the holes they dug. He had already helped retrieve the stacks of plant seeds from the lighthouse on top of the Rescuers’ clubhouse, and probably would have dug the holes himself, too, but there were plenty of Pokémon who were able to lend their digging skills to good use.
As Rigley looked around, he then noticed Team Pecha not too far away, also helping with the planting around the village’s perimeter in the Tao Woods area. It looked like the Jigglypuff and the Chikorita were planting Pecha Berries, though that was to be expected. What was different was that they now had a Golurk who could easily punch holes into the ground with his fists. Rigley knew all too well that they had been working hard to rebuild the village for two or three months straight. Then again, he also knew that Amy the Jigglypuff was the type to always work hard at these sorts of things no matter what. She liked making stuff way more than breaking stuff, after all.
Rigley began to think. Maybe Amy or Chikorita could qualify as a person he really really liked? He HAD been really good friends with them both ever since he met them. Besides, Amy helped to save his life and his sister’s all the way back in the Sandsong Desert…but then again, so did Chikorita. Amy helped to stop O-Bem and O-Beema’s evil plans on Planet Paion and effectively prevented the two planets from heading into an all-out war…but then again, so did Chikorita. Hmm…who to pick, who to pick…
Just then, Rigley saw a very excited-looking Bisharp ran up to Team Pecha, dragging along a hapless Ralts and Lipless the Gothita. It was tempting to join them all, but he decided to hang back and simply watch them for the time being. He still had to pick between Amy and Chikorita, after all.
Bisharp shouted, “Hey guys, guys! Guess what—HOLY COW! When did you get a…a…giant robot…golem…ghost thing?”
“Oh!” exclaimed Amy. “I guess you haven’t met yet. Guys, this is Darren. He also happens to be a really old friend of ours who was resurrected like this or something.”
Lipless shouted, “OOH, OOH, ME MET HIM! ME MET HIM!”
“You are correct, Lipless,” replied Darren. Then he turned to Bisharp and Ralts and said, “Scanning complete. You two are known as Bisharp and Ralts, correct?”
“Y—yeah…” said Ralts. She found it somewhat odd that she could barely sense any emotions this guy had.
Bisharp, in the meantime, was too shocked (or amazed?) to reply. All he could do was stare at how big Darren was and wonder what in the world Amy and Chikorita did to get such a giant to join their team. Then again, since they did a lot of crazy missions to begin with, it somehow made sense that sooner or later, something like this would happen.
Chikorita waved a vine in front of Bisharp’s face and asked, “Helloooo…? Bisharp? What was it that you wanted to tell us?”
He snapped out of it and said, “Oh, right! Guess what? They told us all. Since you guys have finished rebuilding the village and everything…we don’t have to live in that crazy lady’s castle anymore! WOOHOO!”
Amy gasped, “Oh my gosh, that’s great! I’m so glad you guys made it out okay!”
Chikorita added, “Yeah, I was really worried about you guys!”
As Bisharp danced around in celebration, Lipless pouted. “Me actually liked the place. Me and Ralts got to play dress-up with the crazy lady.”
“She didn’t hurt you too badly, did she?” asked Amy, knowing full well how dangerous Merlot the Lugia could be.
Bisharp winced. “No, she didn’t…but…it was Devvy who ended up being the problem…” He shuddered at the memory, and Amy knew full well what he meant, so she knew better than to ask for details. After all, Bisharp was usually never afraid of Devonshire!
“Which means one thing…” said Ralts. “We can finally go back to living in that Pecha Berry House with you guys, right?”
Dead silence.
The smiles on Amy and Chikorita’s faces swiftly disappeared as they remembered said house for the first time in a very long time. “Uh…about that…” stammered Amy. “Well, uh, I—I mean, we—we really really liked living in Rigley’s ship, and meeting all those aliens…and…uh…”
The leaf on Chikorita’s head drooped, and she painfully turned to Amy. “…You forgot to ask them to rebuild it, didn’t you?” Apparently, she was hoping that Amy would remember, as she preferred the natural feel of the Pecha Berry House to begin with. Then again, she couldn’t argue against the fact that Rigley’s ship was way closer to the morning sun’s rays.
Ralts could sense that something was wrong a mile away, but even that didn’t lessen the impact. “…Aww, man!” she whined. “But I really liked it in there!”
“Eh, I could barely fit in there, anyway.” Bisharp shrugged. He was never particularly too thrilled about living in a Pecha Berry-themed house to begin with. “Guess we’ll have to move back into that cave my mom and I used to live in. That is, if it’s not already taken.”
“YAAAAAY!” cheered Lipless.
“Lipless! That’s not something to ‘Yay’ about!” scolded Ralts. She then slumped to the ground and complained, “And I was really looking forward to being with you guys again…”
Amy panicked, “AAAH, Ralts! I’m sorry! I swear, I didn’t mean to, I just forgot, and I never thought anyone would actually miss it, and Rigley’s ship has a lot of really really cool things, and—”
Chikorita ran up to her and said, “Don’t worry, you can still help us! Here, help us plant these! You can be with us the whole time! It won’t be that bad, I swear!” She handed Ralts a few Pecha Berries and seeds of other assorted plants.
“Oh no no no, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have gotten you guys to worry so much about me,” panicked Ralts. She rubbed her eyes (or at least where they were, under her helmet-hair) and said, “See? No tears. I’ll be strong for you, so smile, okay? I know you’ve really been looking forward to helping to plant all this stuff, Chikorita, so I’ll help, okay? Let’s do this!”
As Amy and Chikorita happily resumed planting with Ralts joining them, and Bisharp and Lipless started wandering around aimlessly for something more exciting to do, Rigley replayed the conversation over in his head, and the decision finally clicked: Amy. It had to be Amy.
She was the one who liked alien stuff, after all. Heck, she liked his spaceship so much that she completely forgot to rebuild the Pecha Berry House! She even said so herself! And if his people and their technology counted as alien stuff, then surely, she stood the greatest chance of liking him back. Besides, she was the leader of a team…like him. She had lost her memories…like him (though he got his back and she hadn’t). She didn’t really care for battles that much…like him. And besides, there was something pretty cool about a cute Jigglypuff who could double as a pillow and yet still kick major butt.
Rigley twirled in excitement. All right! He had finally decided on someone…now…what next?

Part 3 of 10. Yup, that's right. Rigley has decided to pick Amy as his girlfriend! Quick, show of hands! Who saw this coming? I know I sure as heck didn't.
In fact, it literally never even crossed my mind just how compatible they would be until I was pretty much halfway into drawing The Circus of Doom. So this is one of those instances where I develop two characters separately, and only after I imagine what it would be like, just for fun, do I realize just how perfect it could be.
Of course, since they're both little innocent little kids, don't expect anything even close to that of a real "romance". In fact, they'd both probably suck at it, a lot. Nevertheless, if they do become an official pairing, I would dub them The Cutest Gentlest Couple of All Time. No seriously, both of them (at least at first) started out as not very assertive, they don't like fighting very much, and they pretty much never fight with each other. If this was a sitcom, it would be a total snooze fest.
Oh, and =Fishlover, if you're reading this, know that this has nothing to do with your Reggie the Beheeyem and Mimi the Audino pairing. But it would make for a hilarious crossover, I'd admit.
