Welcome Back- Issue 1 - Pages 14/15

Double page spread from Issue 1 of Welcome Back. I love drawing scenes like this because I love throwing in cameos of my friends and characters from shows/movies. Pretty much everyone in this scene is based on a friend of mine, including the guy Mali leaves the party with. I was also watching season 1 of Silicon Valley while working on this, and you can see Urlich/TJ Miller in panel 2.

The guitarist/vocalist of the metal band Mantar is up top to the far right, talking to a girl in the foreground, and their drummer is among the party goers on the porch. When I asked permission to use their logo on Mali's jacket, they were super excited about it, and asked if they could be in the comic, so I included them in this scene. Also for metal/hardcore fans, yes, Mali is wearing a Converge shirt and a Cursed backpatch.
