I have been absent due to being very busy on some illustration work for a publisher. I cannot post that work as yet but I do intend to start posting work again.

Just back from a driving tour of the Highlands including a visit to Skye which I last visited in 1981. We even saw some otters swimming by at Fort William - the weather was very Scottish, some sunny days but mostly rain !

Who knew? My friend Garen Ewing has set up a link from an interview with me which was done over 17 years ago to my deviantart site but while checking this out ,I discovered via Comicvine that I made my USA debut in 1990 and I never knew about it ! It was Slimer 13 from Now comics.http://www.comicvine.com/slimer-13-stupid-cupid/4000-161188/

Relocation chaos!

We had to pack up and move house since my last posting so life has been fairly chaotic and stressful. The new house is smaller and we underestimated on that, result too much stuff too little room!
I enjoyed the Exhibition, sharing wall - space with such excellent artists was an honour.
I was even on TV for all of 25 seconds as part of a news feature on the Exhibition along with the brilliant Cam Kennedy.
I had my first experience of meeting a Fan as this guy who was a Fan of 'The Real Ghostbuster's' seemed genuinely thrilled to meet me after buying a page of my Ghostbuster's work - a slightly surreal experience to say the least!
I only sold a few pieces so not a big success financially but as an ego booster and self - promotion exercise..it was very successful.
It has brought me some new Caricature commissions already.
It seems that Socorro my Crime - Fiction GN, written by Steven Grant was actually published by Antarctic Press nearly four years ago and I did not know about it!
I do not blame AP as they must have got it from Platinum Comics - but someone should have let me know about it, especially as I am due some FREE copies!

Life is good this week! I have been preparing a selection of my work for 'The Orkney Comic Art Exhibition' at Custom House - Grooves in Kirkwall starting from the 26th of July. The Exhibition also features work by the brilliant artist's - Alex Leonard, Jim Baikie and Cam Kennedy. I have been busy organizing framing and retouching/ repainting my old Near Myths covers from 1978 - 1980! Tonight I have been preparing Text boxes with images to sit below each exhibit but when I Googled my unpublished Graphic Novel - Socorro, writer-Steven Grant, Publisher, Platinum Comics, for a Cover image,I made the exciting discovery that it is being publishe...

I recently placed my first advert for myself as a Caricaturist - I have done many Caricatures before but it is not something that I have ever specialized in, so I was very pleased to get more than a few Commissions from the advert, though it was a bit of a rush job, getting the last few completed in time for Christmas! Most of the bookings were for basic head shots or single figures but I also did two colour jobs which I will display here on deviantart.

I had a few days off this week so apart from dog-walking ,chores and Family time I spent most of my time either Painting or Drawing..it was so good to know that I did not have to stop early and head off to work. I spent my time working through the book - Painting with Watercolours by William Newton. I am still failing with 'Wet in Wet' watercolour technique..but I am improving my control in the other methods.I also did two super-hero drawings, Martian Manhunter and Marvelman Family and some more Viking sketches.It has been a few years now since I worked as an Illustrator - full-time and I do miss it, but truth be told it was never as relax...
