The fylfot is a common element in ancient Greek and Roman art, partically in 'key pattern' which is used as a border design on vases and mosaic floors.

Key Pattern is formed from one or two continous lines that interweave creating repeating patterns of various complexity.  The group icon is an example of Key Pattern.  The name refers to the shapes formed resembling an old fashioned key.

Key Pattern has inspired several generations of architects in the Georgian Classical Period circa 1800 and the Neo Classical Buidlings circa 1900.

Why is an edit of a picture that isn't even mine being requested to show in this gallery...?

Thanks for the add, is this group dedicated to the Sun Wheel as a basis for their art?

You are welcome.

Fylfot and Sunwheel are similar ideas - I think sunwheel is a broader term and also covers the solar cross / celtic cross symbols.

This group is collecting fylfots, four armed spirals and swastikas. They can be in either direction as long as they are not promoting extreme politics and hatred.

Additional sections for solar crosses and three armed spiral forms could be added to the group if desired.

Sensible members always welcome. Just post here if you want to join.
