Then and only then, with protection and tender love, can you go fuck thyself.

If only deviantArt had the option to "Like" a comment. I would definitely "Like" this one.

Thank you, this is really helpful. This is the best method of presenting commission prices that I have seen. In the future, I'll keep it in mind and make something like it :)

That is kind of you to say, thank you. I'll be improving it for when I do re-open for that service.

Ah, I do have a question:
I would like to commission you for art as a gift to someone, but it would be their preference as to what's drawn. Is there a way that I could pay you in advance and have him send you the details of a request later? Something similar to a gift card...
fydbac Featured By Owner Mar 5, 2013  Professional General Artist
I do not deviate from my mentioned procedures, otherwise I will risk forgetting about the person. As long as the payment info and corresponding email is from the same person; you could have the person fill out the details, and simply provide your email and payment info, you you gather the info from that person, and fill it out yourself. I'm sure you can figure out ways to meet the form requirements and still make it a gift.

Please be sure to read all provided info before proceeding with any of my services (if they are open).

Wah, so sad 1 unit of my currency is just 0,45 U$D =/ . But your price is really reasonable.
But i'm happy that we can find true professional artists these days, as you. I saw so much guys drawing for alms, or because they "love their work" u-
Your reason lights my heart with hope about the future of design in my country

I have something to tell you, I don't know if you check your notes so I'm mentioning it here.
fydbac Featured By Owner Dec 15, 2012  Professional General Artist
In addition to my reply to your note: THIS comment makes you look suspicious as well. Not only is this not the place to leave such a message (considering it has nothing to do with the submission), but you simply saying, "I have something to tell you", defeats the good intention behind such a message. We're strangers, so I have no reason to care about what you have to say: it's best to just come straight with it, or you'll give off the impression I mentioned in my note reply to you.

I actually probably shouldn't even have replied to either messages: but I don't like ignoring people unless absolutely necessary. And plus, I never really had such cryptic, attention hungry sounding (not saying you are, but saying you made yourself appear as such), messages.

(And if your reason for leaving it here is that you didn't know where else to send it, then that doesn't reflect well on you either: 1. my email is very easy to find, 2. You don't know me, there's no evidence that shows I don't check them (in fact, my accessible commission information and promotion should lead one to assume I DO check my notes), so you shouldn't have assumed off the bat that I don't. Didn't even give me a chance; which also appears that you're simply hungry for attention.).

This is a really well structured price sheet. I've been needing to actually put one together, because my current one is a journal entry, and its a mess. Would you mind if I did one kind of like this? The structure I mean. I'd credit you of course.
fydbac Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2012  Professional General Artist
Go for it. Thank you for the consideration of credit.
mamasaurus Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2012
:) Thanks. I'll note you when I'm done if you'd be interested? And of course, I'd never dream of leaving out credit where its due, even for inspiration.

How do 1st-time customers usually react to seeing this?
I ask because of the obvious "I can't pay you, but I'll let people know you did this art for me-blah-blah-blah" horse-shite. Just wondering how you deal with it.
fydbac Featured By Owner Feb 22, 2012  Professional General Artist
I'm sorry, but I do not understand "I can't pay you, but I'll let people know you did this art for me...". I don't do work for clients unless they pay me, so can you clarify please? Do you mean...people claiming i did work for them?
adony Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2012  Hobbyist Filmographer
It's a plus that you don't speak that particular dialect.
It was something I encountered in my youth where I would do some artwork for people and then listen to them wiggle out of paying the full amount, if at all.
I'm somewhat discouraged from opening myself up to doing commissions.
fydbac Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2012  Professional General Artist
What you describe sounds like a case of doing the work before getting paid. There's only one case where I did the artwork before getting paid first. I knew it was wrong, but went with it anyway to try it out. And of course, I never got paid. That was when I FIRST started doing commissions.

I would never draw even a straight line without getting some compensation beforehand (unless it was a company and a contract was signed). Besides that one incident, I have never had someone fail, or try to haggle out of, paying me. Before I do anything, I require either a deposit, half-payment, or full payment(only for sketch commissions). If you really want to do commissions, I suggest giving it another go, but with a better policy to be more fair towards yourself and the client.
