I made a new discord server in the hopes of finding similar artists to hang out with online. It's for animal/creature artists, (with space for furries and fantasy critters as well).
If you'd like to check it out comment below, I'll note you a link.
Tomorrow is August and that means it's Digimon month! I am undertaking a personal challenge where I (digitally) draw all of the digimon in the original 1997 v-pet. That's 14 digimon! Tomorrow I will post the first mon, and then one every MWF until August is over. See ya then.
Being on art twitter right now is a lot of artists who left long ago bagging on deviant art, which... okay. There's some valid complaints, like with the tagging system and searching for things, but the rest is just a weird little hate fest of people coming out of the woodwork to see who's got the worst put down for a website. I don't have much to add, other than to gripe about the griping. Art twitter is always upset about something every day. I can't really handle it most of the time, it's just so dang negative CONSTANTLY, and so much of it is a retread of an argument they've already hashed out or so inconsequential I get contact embarrassment. I quit my other twitter that was helping me keep track of politics and the world because *gestures at everything* but there's some days I want to quit the art twitter too. I'll give this to dA - At least those guys have mostly gone elsewhere.
This group is currently not accepting submissions. Not because your art isn't lovely, but because not enough people were getting on to yay or nay the submissions, and the decision was made to dock the group in the harbor, as it were. So right now this group is just some of the contributors requesting artwork every day. I personally can only request ten a day, and I try to do so every day, to try and keep the group alive until the higher ups are ready/willing to do more. I mostly just surf my inbox and the home page and try to get a variety. I hope that if you are following the group you are at least finding new artists to follow directly! Hopefully things will change eventually. For now please look through the curated posts and leave a comment on a few, I'm sure the artists would appreciate it. (Also I'm sorry about the Bear folder, I can't seem to put anything in there because there's too many folders or something, so I've been putting bears in Other Animals.)
I'm going to learn how to do digital art
dang it! Start to finish, in Clip Studio, I can't rely on just ink pens and I won't have a working version of my old Photoshop forever. I'm thinking about doing some fan art to get in the swing of things. Perhaps Animal Crossing? Perhaps Digimon? I'll probably have a half traditional piece up this weekend that I started weeks ago and have puttered around because of the sads, but I'm making the digital thing a goal. I'm gonna learn! DO IT ME
