Mushrooms in the Sun
The rabbits had nibbled the bushes away,
which left them no shade from the sun that day.
Pilzi felt there was nothing stranger,
than drying out; For them a danger!
He ordered the family to gather round,
huddle together and hold their ground.
He told the snail. "Go fetch some help."
and he´d see what he could do himself.
Then off snail went and found his mates
"Hey comrades, the mushrooms need our aid.
In the heat of the sun they're drying out,
let´s all go see what this is about."
So all the snails, they made the choice
to help the mushrooms to stay moist.
They plucked wet grass and lots of weeds,
Found fallen twigs with quite big leaves,
formed them into the shape of trees
then bound them tightly against the breeze
and errected around them in no time at all,
a natural, snail-made, protective wall.
Happy mushrooms once again in shade,
gave thanks for Pilzi's decisive ways.
Whenever in danger they always knew,
they could count on him, he´d know what to do!
