Trying to decide if this qualifies as a "News" post rather than just a journal. Meanwhile -
In the US, there will be a vote on Wednesday 26 Oct. regarding a bill that will ostensibly "protect" owners of intellectual property online, but because it's details are too broad and hastily-written it will actually make it possible for entire domains to be censored - or it will encourage them to self-censor. Sites like YouTube, Tumblr... basically any site that hosts content uploaded by users (even this one, kids) would be affected. As would search engines, as they would be required to eliminate links leading to "infringing" sites.
