I love fractals.  I can't help it.  The colors, patterns, and rhythms of it have a synaesthetic appeal that (almost) make me wish I was better at math, because that would be one more level on which I could appreciate it.   As it is, I settle for happily staring, getting lost in the flowing repetitions.   ('S probably why I like techno music as well, actually...)

I can't post thumbnails, alas, but below are two (of many) digital/fractal art groups out there.  I could wander for hours if I didn't have work to do.... :gallery:

My honors project in my Physics major, during senior year in undergrad: "Multi-fractal Analysis of Chaotic Data: F(alpha) vs. Alpha, and Wavelet Transform Techniques". I'd been trained by the man who would eventually become my disseration advisor.

I met hubby Paul first summer of grad school, when I was asked to do the same Fractal Analyses on his laboratory i/f noise chaotic data. This is how we met.

I now sit on my hands, harder than I've ever sat before, to avoid pulling out my old wavelet transform bifurcation maps. It's actual analysis results, done in a three-d style, and if the system has underlying patterns within it, yes, it's basically a fractal.

Sitting on hands.
Sitting on hands.
Any idea how hard it is to write,
while sitting on hands?

Well, heck - if it's done in a 3-D style and shows a pattern, why not post it in your gallery? :D

And you know I'm trained first as a scientist. Don't act surprised by my ramble. If anything, considerit payback for all the photoshop, theatre, and artistic terms you throw at me. ;) :D

LOL .... We can just consider our mutual ramblings as bonus lessons in intercultural vocabulary. ;-) :nerd:
