For ~peahopeless' story, I Can Do That.

"Cars passed below, their occupants never thinking to look up. At least, not the adults. Just one little boy, who quickly caught V's attention. -- -- That innocent child's face, peering up through a rear window, the biggest smile highlighting his small features.

V couldn't resist, and raised his hand politely to the child. A little detection didn't matter ... "

(I dithered between calling this one "Traditional" or "Digital". There's a lot of Photoshop work in this, because I used multiple layers and did a *lot* of smudging/blurring/liquefying of the car. Ultimately, though, all the elements began as hand-drawn, so "Traditional" won out.)

Yeah... I think the count has passed 150 stories at this point, with no sign of slowing down! :faint:

Still, there's no time limit on when you can read them. ;)

Extremely good idea! Great application. Wow. Ok, to be honest I don't like the car so much, but so what, all the rest is just great, especially V's pose, the use of perspective and forshortening. Also, the girders (I *think* I'm using the right word here) look very convincing. Great stuff!

Yeah, I think the car is going to get a re-work at some point - I'm not terribly happy with it either. The image was made using three separate layers, and the car was as awkward as it is because I had to blow it *way* up. :hmm: I knew it'd be dicey, but I let it go for now so it'd stop rattling around in my head.

Many thanks for the feedback - I'm glad everything else seems to be working! :phew:

You know, the really amazing thing is that the boy's face and head was *that* good ... *already* ... back in the first sketch. I mean, it was unbelievable then already. Paul is especially floored by the child's head ... I know I keep harping on it, but it's true. Paul's just stunned too. That boy looked pure professional form the very *beginning*.

And I LOVE the way you did it as a reflection. I didn't realize that was how the pieces fit together. That the V part would be a reflection ... that's brilliant ... I wouldn't have even thought of that in trying to draw something. That's just brilliant. I'm just so unbelievably floored by this one ... by both the pure *realism* of the drawing, *and* the brilliance of using a reflection.

The boy was the easiest part of all of this, surprisingly. I'm assuming it's because V was looking right at him, and so he was the clearest element of the image! %-)

>I LOVE the way you did it as a reflection.

It had been in my head that way from the beginning; I just hadn't been sure how to go about doing it for a while. If not for Photoshop, I don't think I *could* have! The car, the boy, and V are all their own individual layers; V's layer is slightly transparent so the boy shows through - that was what I *knew* I couldn't just draw on my own.

The car is going to get a re-work once I get a few hours. I had to blow it *way* up because I'd drawn it so much smaller than V's portion of the image, and all sorts of roughness came through in the process. :hmm: At the time, though, it was much more important to get this one *out* of my head so it would stop shouting at me!

*But*, all in all, I'm just (absolutely dumbstruck) glad this one actually _worked_. :)

And my God, the rivets on the bridge. I loved the fact that you had them all the way back at the sketch. But now they're actually 3d. It's like the detail when you do his gloves. Just unbelievable.
