Finally getting around to coloring this one. This is a preliminary treatment in pastel pencils that helped me figure out a color scheme (I am so not used to working in color...). Details are being added and shifted, so I've got several steps yet before I actually begin painting this one.
OMG! i love this!!! the wind blowing and the back ground are all so wonderful!!! oh there are so many things that are fab about this but i will just leave it at WOW!
As I said in private (should probably put it here too) ... that surreal lighting on the trees (so far), combined with the darkish sky, reminds me of what the lighting looks like outside when a storm is about to hit. And the blowing of their clothing just adds to that same illusion. It honestly screams 'storm' to me, which is actually kind of good. Remember, based on "His Beloved Evey", I have to get them away from London when 'her rain' comes again the next year. This actually would fit that, if you stop and think about it.
This one's going to be interesting as it develops. As we talked about, my initial feeling of the sky was "night", but the pastels didn't give a saturated enough color for that. When I start playing with the watercolors, I'll see if I can get a decent "storm" texture without it becoming sloppy.
