Growing treasure

Hi all!
Due to loads of stress, an incredible amount of work and limited time, I have had no time what so ever to even think about deviant art for about the last two months, but I believe this has all paid off, and now hopefully I am back...

I have just completed an exhibition which presented 12 images (it took 15 individual shoots in total) and each with it's own story to tell.
The theme I decided upon was, "mums and babies".
What started out as an assignment based on "young single mums", which I decided upon, became a passion, where I started becoming part of these women's lives as they told me their stories. I decided I did not want to stop this small piece of work I'd already started, I wanted to make this something big, I wanted to make this my exhibition piece and now not just look at single girls, but at woman from all walks of life.

Now I want to show you guys a little bit of the experience I have gone through, with these shoots. And I will now be including the stories told by each precious lady..

Here is this wonderful girl's story:
Today I have been a mom for 7 weeks and 3 days. That first day when I got to meet my baby girl was the most amazing day and truly the best feeling in the world, yet it was also a start to a whole new life and journey. Being only 20years old and a single mom I was told the hardest times lie ahead of me but looking at the weeks that have passed I can't complain, my family and friends have supported myself and my baby girl so much that I don't feel like we are missing out on anything! Instead we are getting everything we deserve and more. I have learnt so much through this experience and I have grown so much that the hard times I experienced with my daughter’s father have actually made me a stronger person and better mother, its definitely not something I regret or would ever change because she has made me a better person and brought me closer to all my family and friends.

In my eyes the imperfections everyone else finds in my life are absolutely perfect to me and I wouldn't have it any other way

My reason for shooting this photograph as I did:
Nicole is standing in one of the many green houses which is on their property. These green houses all protect the beautiful Orchid, which is their family business. It is not something recent, but is a position and passion taken on first by her grandfather who then passed this onto Nicole's dad.
I purposely put her amongst all the new and young orchids, and shooting through their roots, showing new life, while she has new life growing within her body.
