Hope to see you guys there! I'll be cosplaying Katniss Everdeen and I will be running around with Rue. :)

Time to put up a mini art gallery! Let's play. :)

1.) For each of the first 20 people answering this journal, I will put their avatar and the three deviations I like most from their gallery on the list!
2.) If you answer, you have to do the same in your journal, putting the tagger on the first place. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone!

That said,

Well, it would seem that I'm not on here quite as often as I used to be. I'm still making art, it's just going where you aren't seeing it! So let's remedy that little issue:…

That up there is the link to my brand spanking new Facebook page. I'd appreciate if you would take the time to stop by and like it. You get to stay in the know, I get to spread the love, and your social circle gets to know about your great taste in art. ;)

I'll still be posting here, but that is going to be the best way to stay in touch, especially if you need to get a hold of me personally.

Another shameless plug:

That right there is the link to my equally fresh-out-of-the-ocean shop! If you see anything you want in my gallery (or my Facebook page!), chances are it's up for grabs in there. And you get to help out a starving artist whilst adorning your walls! Win-win situation! :D

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

As always, All the love.

Just here long enough for a quick holiday update, so a very Merry Christmas to everyone! My gift: A much needed art dump (Is that really a gift, Halston?!) upon my gallery. Feel free to look or skim. It'll mostly be costume work and a few doodles.
Also, I have a pseudo portfolio website now,, so take some time to check that out and tell me about your improvement ideas! It's still a baby and it needs a lot of work to get off the ground.

Again, Merry Christmas and hope to hear from many of you soon!

And a lovely meeting it has been thus far. A happy 4th to everyone as well!

Okay, so I haven't posted anything in, let's see...almost three months now. I suppose I should put something down, shouldn't I?

En brevis:

*State is over and was five days of great fun and theatre-geeking. Came home with straight superiors on my costume designs. Woot.

*Our Drama Banquet has also come and gone. That event was a bittersweet one. A joyous occasion of remembering the past year, feasting, and award-giving (Best Techie and I'll be the secretary of my Thespian troupe next year), but also a time of sadness and seeing off our seniors. But all in all, it was good.

*The class of 2010 has since graduated, which means that I now have senior status. I really don't know what to make of it right now. Probably because it's not time for school until August? I don't know. I just don't feel like an upperclassman. But only one more year left! That in and of itself is exciting enough for me to be ecstatic about the coming year, even if it will be incredibly busy what with drama and my classes.

*Summer has been busy though. I'm currently a student at the Design and Tech Academy at the Orlando Repertory Theatre. It's been 2 weeks of intensive class and backstage work as well as a couple of in-depth field trips to Disney and Universal (no time for rides on those trips!). I'm starting my third and final week of class tomorrow afternoon and from there the students become the crew for the summer stock production, 42nd Street (here's hoping for the costume crew).

*As far as the class goes, I have learned SO much. Seriously, it's been extremely helpful. By the time I finish work in lecture and in the show I should be prepared to do any job that is needed of me once I get back to school, be it stage managing or working electrics. I was kind of on the fence about whether or not I still wanted to consider technical theatre as a career but my interest has been renewed now that I've done this outside of a high school setting.

*And my classmates? I've met some awesome people that I hope to keep in touch with after this is all over as well as some that I would be fine if I never saw again. Such is what happens when you put 15 very awkward individuals in a single-room setting.

Time to go watch fireworks! Thanks for letting me babble! ^^

Just plain figures that the only update I'll have done since February is to say yet again that I'll be gone for an extended period of time. But yes, Sweeney is now officially over (has been for a while now, actually) and I'll do my best to post some pictures of the end result as quickly as I can.
State Thespian Competition will last 5 days (I'll be there in Tampa until Sunday morning) and I'll have stories to share upon my return! :aww:

  • Reading: The Grapes of Wrath

Like I'll be doing any of that any time soon!

Work for my school's production of Sweeney Todd starts tomorrow (I'm the costume designer), right along with drivers ed and various other events that would take more time than is necessary to name. I'll be updating when I can, but it'll mostly be my designs for the show since I can't fathom that I would have the time to put out anything else.

That said, hope everyone is well and I'll hear from those of you who aren't involved with the show when I return! :aww:

Time to go to more Sweeney Todd designs. I'll put some up and submit some of them fairly soon.

Take care.

2009, thou hast served me well. I've done so much, met so many people that I will never forget in years to come, and had the opportunity to gain and refine more skills than I ever thought possible. I know it sounds super cheesy, but thanks to everyone, both friends and family, who has been with me through all of this!

And another thanks to everyone for watching my work! You guys encourage me to keep doing what I do and give me enough ego boost to allow me to believe that I don't suck too badly. I thank you all profusely for that, you have no idea. :aww:

Obligatory pre-New Year's things aside, an update or two is to be had.

1. My Deviantart is pretty screwed up. I realized this as I was jumping on the bandwagon, doing that little 2009 art summary meme earlier this afternoon. I have things out of order, I have some things dated completely wrong, and I have some flat-out gross-looking pictures hanging out in there. I'm going to do my best to do a little bit of a reworking and a purge in there, but we'll have to see how well that goes.

2. If my virtual cleansing spree doesn't work out, then I'm going to consider making a new account and starting over from scratch. However, this is only if I can't get things under control and arranged how I like. Also, I don't really like 'froggy-spaztastic' very much anymore. Just saying...

3. I'm going to do my best to get my Artfire shop up and running by Mid-to-late January. That way, if anyone who I don't go to school with is interested in purchasing a plushie or something of the sort, they may do so. However, I'm still working on getting an inventory set up and arranging shipping details so I'll have more information on the shop as its opening comes closer. If anyone has any suggestions on what to make extra of (or even early requests!) then please, throw them out there!

That said, I wish you all good luck and good health in the upcoming year! Enjoy!

Ah, yes. It is now in fact Winter. Winter means a nice two week long break from school (but not homework), the holidays, and cold weather (well, as cold as Florida can hope to get).

I've been working on making more cute stuff, but this is a fairly busy week for me so I'll put them up as soon as I get a chance.

Just one final update before Christmas so y'all know I'm still alive. More to come! :aww:

The Day Ahead...

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 7:31 PM
The day ahead...

Is one that will stretch on for 14 hours of costuming and craziness. At least I'll be there with my friends and then some. The length of time is no matter. It'll be just like last year and the year before that. No big deal. Maybe it'll rain tomorrow morning. That would start my day off quite well. I need a positive to help give me motivation to be up at 5:30 while it's still dark out.

Even frogs need sleep to function. And so they shall. :aww:

I'll update more when I get around to it. Next week is Tech Week *coughhellweekcough* for You Can't Take it With You which means minimal DA time so I'll write up more when I get the chance.

Hope everyone else's Halloween was frightful and candy-loaded. Feel free to share any stories or left over treats. :aww:

I adore so many people right now. I don't know why. I've just been in a people-loving kind of a mood. Yes, I'm confused. Yes, I'm a tad stressed at the moment. But never the less, I love all of these people. You those of you who know who you are, I love you so much and to those of you who don't know, don't worry, I love you too. :3

Moving on from that sappy little sentiment (and because I'm finished with my homework early), here's a survey game. Just because.

1. YOUR ROCK STAR NAME (first pet's name, current car)
-Scotty Impala
(Rock on. Sure. XD)

2. YOUR GANGSTA NAME (fave ice cream flavor, favorite type of shoe)

(How can I pick just one? I shall become a Native American goddess.)

4. YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME (middle name, city where you were born)
-Marie Orlando

5. YOUR STAR WARS NAME (the first 3 letters of your last name, first 2 of your first name)

6. SUPERHERO NAME (2nd favorite color, favorite drink
-Purple Juice
(I'm not drinking that juice.)

7. NASCAR NAME (the first names of your grandfathers)

-I'm thinking of making a new account and moving everything over. I really don't like this username anymore and it's not like I have enough pageviews to matter anyway. I'll let everyone know when I make the decision.

-I've started trying to get over my phobia but it's failing miserably. I actually feel worse than when I started. Someone hug me...

-School started a while ago, back in August. But can't I just skip the rest of the high school ordeal and go on to college? Please?

-I'm making big plushies now! Really, really big! I need to hurry up and learn how to use that sewing machine (Thank you, Alexa!) if I want to make enough of these to sell.

-Homecoming is next week. I don't have any plans. Just thought I'd put that out there. No reason.

-I'm really behind on making kokeshi dolls for people who have asked. Same with a few smaller plushies and plushie keychains/pins/magnetic locker buddies. To those of you who have been waiting on me, I apologize.

-Ditto to the above on people who have asked for drawings. I'm still making up six day's worth of make up work from when I was sick. Yes, STILL.
So I apologize for my slowness once again.

-My room is a mess since I've been busy. I should clean it up sometime, maybe tomorrow morning. Yeah, that sounds good.

-I need to find a place for all of my books. I'm running out shelf space. This isn't good.

-I want to learn a new language so I'm experimenting with different ones. If I find one I really really like then I'll save up for its Rosetta Stone program (seriously, that thing WORKS) to go farther. I'm currently playing with Korean. Next it's back to Turkish.

-I'm debating what to do with my birthday this year. It's only two months away and if I start planning something now then maybe I can have it done by Halston's Birthday-Eve.
Pssh. Yeah, right.

-I just remembered how cute Beanie Babies are. I've started collecting the ones I really like. Pretty soon I'm going to have more stuffed toys than I can deal with. In which case I'll create an army and store them in specially constructed barracks. Fear them.
Updates later. Possibly. I don't know when. In fact, I need sleep. Sleep is good. So I'll go do that. Thank you for reading. Good night.

School is not fun. However, it is even less fun when you have to make up six days worth of honors and AP classwork and homework. So my Labor Day weekend is shot thanks to AP Language, Algebra, AP American History, and French.
But alas, c'est la vie.
It doesn't help that I am still hurting and feeling slightly ill when I eat. According to my doctor I'm going to feel this way for about two more weeks so in the meantime it's the meds for me. :pills:
On the plus side, I have an idea for a comic-story! I've never actually written a full-out comic before so this should be a fun experiment. You know how you sometimes think of the craziest stuff while doing mindless tasks? You know, things like matching socks or folding underwear? That always seems to work for me. Sewing too. But I won't say anything about the story. It'll be a comic strip so nothing deep or epic or any of that. I'm going to do my best to keep the art from looking too manga stylized. Though that always seems to be the rut I fall into...
Onto zee features, which I have edited for my goal-reaching purposes.

Okay, so for anyone stalking me and keeping tabs on my health for some reason, I went in for a sonogram yesterday and it turned up with all sorts of nasty things aside from the UTI/kidney infection. I'd rather not list them here even though a couple of you already know what's wrong. But I am feeling a bit better. I'm very, very sore but they gave me good meds so I should be more or less ready to return to school by Monday. ^^

But onto why I'm actually here...

Today I got to skip school and spend my afternoon in the ER. Yeah, great day, huh? XD
Shortened story: Yesterday I felt like my entire abdomen had been filled with cold acid. Went to the doctor, she poked and prodded and tested me, and told me that I could have gastroenteritis, an ulcer, or worse case scenario, appendicitis. So she gave me medicine and told me if I was still hurting in the morning to go to the hospital. Lo and behold, still in pain, so over the hills and off to the hospital we go. Further poking, prodding, and testing and they told me that I have a urinary tract infection (God, that's embarrassing. Why am I even putting this up for people to see?) along with what could be something else mixed in with it. They gave me a general antibiotic (It's gotta fix one of those problems, eh? XD) and told me that if I was still feeling like hell to come back tomorrow. We'll have to see. Right now I don't have that acid feeling anymore but I feel like I've been hit in the gut by a bus. Depending on just what this medicine does (can you take Valium with an antibiotic? :dead:) depends on whether or not I go back there tomorrow. At least they're nice. They gave me teddy bears to calm me down. :)
Either way, I can't go to school tomorrow under doctor's orders. At least it's only the first week so I haven't missed any work. But it's boring being home when you're not feeling well. There's no one to talk to since everyone is at school. :( I don't know when I'll be back though. I'm hoping for Friday but depending on what happens it could very well be Monday. I don't know at this point. I just know that it majorly sucks. DX
Oof. Even the tiniest bit of pain meds make me sleepy and loopy. Sleep time for the Halston...

But yeah, my house is boiling. Not even taking a shower with water so cold that it may very well have been imported from Iceland can douse this heat. It's even hot outside. I'm sure exactly what temperature it is but I can see the heat rippling off of the neighbor's car.
Maybe that'll be the next hat I make. A fleece hat with one of those long ice packs sewn into the brim. That would be heaven right about now...
Oh yeah, hats! I've been making more of them. I just finished up a Domo hat last night. It doesn't look all that great so I'm going to clean up the design before I even think of selling them but I'll still put the original hat up in my gallery. I picked up a big bunch of fleece at Jo-Ann's a few days ago so I can go on a crazy hat-making-plushie-spawning spree.
I don't know if I'll make felt dolls in the future since the fleece holds up a LOT better and the seams look cleaner, but I have so much felt on hand at home that I'll have to make dolls out of that just to get rid of it before I go out buying fleece exclusively for those.

Note: I'll be making things for sale again come schooltime in a couple of weeks. I'll have the usual plushies and keychains but I'll also start offering the hats and kokeshi dolls if I find anyone who is interested. I still have plenty of socks on hand for sock dolls and sock bunnies (though people don't seem to like the idea of hugging some unknown person's used footwear no matter how many times I tell them that I've triple-washed them...) so if anyone wants one of those I'll still be happy to make them.

But away from personal crafting endeavors...:movingon:
I went to Kaley's (:iconwingsalamode:) birthday party yesterday evening. Kobe was delicious, the party was fabulous, and that's really all I have to say about it. :) It makes me want to start planning for my birthday party. Maybe if I start planning now I can have at least something thrown together by November. We'll see what happens. But what do people usually do for their 17th birthdays? I know I didn't have a Sweet 16 by any means. I got a hug, a set of markers, and a new president. Hopefully this year I can do something spectacular.
But how spectacular can it be when you want to blend two groups of friends who have barely (more than likely HAVEN'T) met eachother? Two groups of friends who are so different that you don't have the foggiest idea as to how well they'll get along?
I demand a personal event planner... :cling:
Kaley tagged me on this super-long music survey. I have nothing better to do (screw you, Mulvaneys) so I'll do my best to answer it. :delighted:

Singer like, period? Right now it's Rie Fu.

Music is important because it's the one form of communication that can cross language barriers. It affects different people in different ways. I hate introspective questions.
72. Why is music so important to people and culture?
It preserves culture. Sadly, it's one of the first things like that can be lost in integration.

That all depends. To someone who has all kinds of natural talent I can't imagine a bad teacher would turn them off to music. But to someone who isn't a musical genius an excellent teacher can make a world of difference.
86. What do you think the next piece of music technology will be, after digital technology?

Yes, this weekend has come to a close which means that my time in my first artist alley is also over. Truth be told, I didn't do very well as far as sales go, but I expected as such. This was a learning experience through and through. Now that I know what I did well with and what I screwed up on, my next artist alley will be much better. Not necessarily successful, but better thought out and put together. I'm pretty sure that for my next one I'll hold off on putting out my 2-d work and focus more on crafts such as my plushies and that secret project I won't talk about. I don't want to show anyone at a convention my flat work until it is super-uber-amazing-spectacular!

But if you somehow got to this page through one of my business cards or through one of those little zodiac keychains then I just want to thank you tons for stopping by my table and keeping me company for those few seconds that you were there. Really, it means a lot to me. ^^
And to those who suffered though this with me (i.e. minions who helped me with watching the table), and you know who you are, there's no need to thank you again since I probably thanked you profusely throughout the time you were there. But thank you again anyway!!!!

And now I'm off to start prepping for next time. I figure if I start early I shouldn't be stressing as much when the next one comes around. Time to start on zee project o' secretness and many, many plushies!
