In mythology, manticores are always described as male. I don't see why they can't be drawn as female too.
Manticores are a Persian mythological creature described at having a lion's body (often red), sometimes winged or horned, and a dragon's tail or scorpion's tail that's barbed / can shoot spines. The other feature is a long neck with human face with triple row of teeth.
