Namor the Sub-Mariner: Namor the Sub-Mariner is the ruler of undersea Atlantis. The offspring of a sea captain and an Atlantean princess, he has been both a hero and a villain to the surface world.
After the War of Atlantis, Namor was murdered by Krang at the behest of Attuma. Andromeda, the daughter of Attuma and Namor’s lover, went into hiding. Months later, Andromeda perished when she gave birth to their son Mackenzie. Mack was sent away to live with his aunt Namora who, by this time, was staying with the X-Men. Mack trained under the guidance of Xavier, but Magnus kept a close eye on him.
Mack had always been told that his parents died in the War of Atlantis. He knew very little about them. He was an otherwise well-adjusted young man, but Magnus saw a potential. This potential would be stifled as long as he stayed in the school. Magnus had Sage give Mack the information of his true birthright.
Mack was furious. Against his aunt’s wishes, he went back to Atlantis. He was rebuffed by Attuma and beaten down. As he was about to be executed, the full force of the X-Men came to the rescue. Thus began the Atlantis Attacks. The Atlanteans began a war with mutants that ended with Attuma thrown off the throne and Mack ascending to his rightful place.
Mack took the name of Namor to honor his father. Now the young king spends his days trying to build bridges with his people and the surface world.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY:
Starlord (Norrin Radd): One of the noblest and most tormented souls, Starlord treasures freedom above all else, but has often sacrificed his liberty for the greater good. He was born Norrin Radd on the planet Zenn-La, part of an extremely long-lived and technologically advanced humanoid race which had created a worldwide utopia devoid of crime, disease, hunger, poverty, and want of any kind. His father named him after revered scientist Norrin Konn, mainly responsible for raising Zenn-La from barbarism to utopia. Norrin's mother Elmar, ill-suited to this stifling environment, eventually killed herself. Urged on by his atypically ambitious father Jartran, Norrin was raised as a grimly intellectual youth, encouraged to seek knowledge, advancement and achievement rather than the aimless hedonism which had come to dominate Zenn-Lavian society; however, a disgraced Jartran would later commit suicide himself after he was accused of idea theft. Despite being married to his lifelong lover Shalla-Bal, Norrin grew into a restless soul who longed for challenge and struggle, immersing himself in histories of Zenn-La's adventurous ancient past.
Norrin's life changed forever when a menacing alien spacecraft pierced Zenn-La's long-neglected defense systems. Convincing a Council of Scientists member to provide him with a spaceship, Radd soon confronted the invader, Galactus, who intended to consume Zenn-La; Radd appealed to Galactus to spare Zenn-La and take Tarnax IV (the home of their enemies, the Skrull) instead. Galactus disagreed and destroyed the planet and all Norrin held dear. There he was, the last of his kind with the whole universe in front of him with a state of the art space ship.
Norrin began a life as an explorer and adventurer. Soon, he gathered to himself a network of thieves, bounty hunters, and scoundrels collectively known as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
CAPTAIN UNIVERSE (Richard Ryder): The Uni-Power is an extra-dimensional force that possesses an individual in a time of crisis, transforming that person into Captain Universe. As Captain Universe, the transformed person typically retains his or her original personality and appearance, though with Captain Universe's costume and heroic traits superimposed over the original. The Uni-Power itself emanates from the Enigma Force, the exact nature of which, naturally, remains an enigma.
Richard Ryder is a below average student with a future of being stuck in the small podunk town of Campbellsville or to join the military. One night while drinking stolen beers in his red Iroc-Z28, Ryder is hit by a blazing blue light. When he came to, a blue and white costume covered him as he turned, he saw the Earth below him. THE EARTH?!?!?! He thought as he spun around in the void of space. Ryder was able to fly, move and operate in space without the aid of a shuttle.
A voice boomed inside of Richard’s head. It was the voice of the embodiment of Infinity. She had purposed Ryder for greater things. She explained that the universe needed a champion. If he was up to the challenge, it would be him. Richard reflected on his life on earth and agreed to go with her. He felt he didn’t have anything to offer as plain old Richard Ryder, but as Captain Universe he could be a somebody.
Devil-Slayer: Dr. Stephen Strange was once a gifted but egotistical surgeon who sought out the Ancient One to heal his hands after they were wounded in a car accident. Instead, the Ancient One trained him to become Master of the Mystic Arts and the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.
But he failed. Consumed with anger and guilt over the death of his fiancée, Dr. Christine Palmer at the hands of Blackheart, he attempted to assault the gates of Hell itself. He was rebuffed by Mephisto who took Christine’s soul.
When he returned, he was asked to leave the monastery. Before he left, he stole the Armament Arcanum, an archive of mystic weapons hidden around the globe. Strange used this knowledge and his magic ability to secure several weapons. Then he began to hunt. He tracked down several of Mephisto’s minions and destroyed them. Now, he has assembled the Strangers to help him in his quest. Tortured by the lost soul of his former love, Strange now fights to free her and in other ways…..himself.
Super Skrull: The Servant of the Altered Form. K’lrt was a skrull artificially augmented and given the power to copy others’ powers by Galactus. Galactus had come to the Skrull throneworld intent on consuming it. K’lrt offered to be his herald in exchange for sparing his planet. Galactus took him and created a Super Skrull.
K’lrt served Galactus faithfully until he happened upon 4 spacefaring humans. The Super Skrull had conflict with Galactus’s new heralds. Tired of the constant quarrels, Galactus banished K’lrt from his presence. K’lrt returned to his homeworld to find it devastated by the Devourer of Worlds. K’lrt realized the only place that there was a contingent of Skrulls left, was Earth. But even on Earth he was found suspect. Tales of K’lrt selling out the Skrull race to save his own life had permeated the remaining Skrulls. K’lrt wandered as a pariah until he was approached by Thor and Hercules.
