Day #2:

My first comic book shop was across the street from the old Greenwood Middle School in a TV repair shop ran by the grandparents of my brother’s friend. My second one was in a bed and breakfast about a mile north of there. Some of you today probably don’t know the horror of not having a local comic shop. The closest one to me was the closet that was a comic carnival on Madison and Thompson, which I got to go to like twice a year. There used to be a Hooks drugs that anchored a small mini mall across from the Greenwood Park Mall on Fry Road. They had a spinner rack of comics.

Me and my best friend at the time and a person I consider a brother, Derrick, and I would regularly go there because we couldn’t drive, and I hated the mall. That was where Derrick found The Uncanny X-Men #269. Now this is a little bit after Inferno and Derrick and I were heavy into the X titles. We were huge fans of Mark Silvestri’s art. This was our introduction to Jim Lee. This cover pops with the colors and the characters and dramatic tension. It was an amazing piece of art. But I was out of cash. Seems trips to Aladdin’s Castle and Luca Pizza had consumed my funds for the day. We left the drugstore and Derrick handed me the comic. Okay before you get the wrong idea, he bought it (and Excalibur #3 I believe). He gave it to me, just because. So not only is this a piece art, it was also a symbol of the bond of friendship we shared. Derrick, to me, is one of the few people I know that whatever happens in our lives, when we see each other its like time never passed. I cherish our friendship and love him like a brother.

P.S.: I know it is only Day 2, but I figure I will just get this out of the way. All of these books I post, I still have.

Day #1:

Here is where it all began. Marvel Team-Up #117. This was the comic that made me want to be a comic book artist. I had other comics, but when my brother (who was in fourth grade) brought this comic home, it changed my perspective. Kip (my brother) and his friends Dan and Dave (I think I might be missing someone) were all artists and were all about creating comics and making them on their own and creating characters. As the prototypical kid brother, I wanted to do everything he did. So I did. Probably to an annoying level.

My brother and I collaborated, clashed, and quarreled over comics until music became his passion. I stuck with comics. I grew an intense love of superheroes because of the hope they inspire. The fact is not lost on me that it was my brother who got me into comics, that even today he is one of my personal heroes, and continues to inspire me.

P.S.: I still have the comic and I am not giving it back.

SPOILER WARNING:

Just in case I actually spoil anything about the movie. I don't think I will, but who knows. Anyway, this is how I want Avengers 4 to end. Only because this would be more gut wrenching than the end of Avengers 3.

LAST CHANCE.

How Should Avengers 4 End.:

After defeating Thanos, the 6 original Avengers each step forth each with an Infinity Stone. They are warned  by Thanos that reversing what he had done would require great sacrifice. The six look at each other and join together, reversing the “Snapture”.

Cut to Professor Hulk working in a lab with several subordinates.

“E…ex..excuse me Dr. Banner?” asked a technician.

“Don’t call me that….” He replies.

“I’m sorry….uhm Dr. ….Hulk?”

“No….do not call me doctor. It is a mundane title, grasped like the lowest hanging intellectual fruit. I operate on a different level now. I am a possessor of knowledge a poet of the mechanics of the universe, a leader of men…..you may call me Maestro!”

Cut to Ronin peering through a scope. He executes a hit and begins disassembling his rifle while talking on his Bluetooth. “Make sure the money hits my account. Naw, Hawkeye is dead. He died with his family. I am burning the Ronin identity as well? Hmmm? Who do you contact for the next job?” A little pause, close up on Clint as he smiles. “Bullseye.”

Cut to a floating city, a gleaming Asgard, a shadowed rider riding away from the new kingdom. Cut to the Throne Room. Lady Sif sits on the throne as new Asgard. One Asgardian cries out for the whereabouts of Thor. Sif stands, lifting Mjolnir and as a tear streams down her face she answers: “He is…..Unworthy.” Cut to the shadowed rider leaving is a disheveled Thor with Stormbringer strapped to his back.

Cut to the wedding of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. When it comes to say I do, Tony says I can’t and leaves Pepper at the altar. Cut to Tony entering his lab where an AI voiceover says to Tony: “I told you it was for the best Tony. I know you better than anyone else…”

“I know….its just you and I together forever….” Tony stares at a wall as the viewpoint pans around to reveal he is staring at Ultron rebuilt.

Cut to Steve Rogers and Black Widow christening Falcon as the new Captain America. Steve having taken over for Nick Fury who was killed in action. As several little interaction scenes between Cap and Captain Marvel and Falcon and Bucky and Widow, the other heroes leave Cap and Widow go to the bridge of the Triskelion. "Inhumans, aliens, robots, now these mutants...Policing the world is our business now, Nat…” Widow glares at him expectingly.

“Oh, I’m sorry……Hail Hydra.”

END.

The Green Falcon

The Green Falcon:

Ace Navy pilot Brett “Flash” Calvert had flown several Middle Eastern missions by the time his career as a military pilot came to an end. With his excellent track record and superior flying skills, not to mention multiple awards, commendations, and medals; Brett had secured a cushy job in the private sector as a private pilot. He became the pilot of the “Falconer” the personal transport of King Farhangi of the United Republic of Itar.

Brett was flying a quick mission to the United States for the king on a personal mission. The plane was unloaded, refueled and he got back in the air. Off the coast of Florida, shortly after takeoff, the Falconer came under fire and Brett crash-landed near an abandoned isle. Brett escaped to the isle as the plane sank.

Brett had no means of communication. He made himself a shelter and waited. The Falconer eventually washed up to shore. None of the communication worked. Brett had little in the way of supplies, but a lot in the means of survival.

Brett began scrapping the plane and trying to build a contraption that would allow him to escape the coastal trap. It took two years, but Brett constructed a crude jet pack and glider wings. He was able to fly within the reach of the coast of Florida and swam the rest of the way home.

He got in contact with the King who offered to pay him for his silence. Not realizing why, he accepted the offer. Then he learned the awful truth. The secret mission he was on was sneaking the king’s son Aron Farhangi into the United States. Aron had claimed responsibility of attacks on U.S. troops. Aron was responsible for the death of many Americans and had ties to the terrorist cell The Black Hand.

Crestfallen, Brett vowed revenge against the king by the bringing his son to justice. He used some of his “blood money” to redesign his crude jet pack into a small stream-lined version. He bought a helmet and a Kevlar body suit with adaptive wings. He took flight as the hero of the skyways….THE GREEN FALCON!

Hi! and welcome aboard. Impact Revolt is based on a line of comics produced by DC as a separate imprint (Kinda like Ultimate or New Universe). The difference with these characters is that the Impact line is based on MJL publications superheroes known as "The Archie Comics" heroes. They have gone under different names and imprints through the years: Red Circle, Dark Circle etc. Impact Revolt takes my favorite elements out of all the publications and reboots and redos. Then I put it all in one huge narrative bending and twisting the characters to fit it.

I like your art. It's a very classic style. Everything looks so digital these days. It's not bad, just nice to see this style is still out there.
