Robin Tyler - Chapter 16
Since the night I snuck out with Liam, two weeks had passed. And I don't think me and him have stopped talking for a single moment.
Even now, while I was sitting at the breakfast table with David, my phone was in my right hand while my left hand carried a spoon of Frosted Flakes cereal to my mouth. We had been texting about what plans we each had for tonight. Today was the fourth of July.
"So are you just constantly checking your teeth in your phone? Or is there actually something, or someone, causing you to smile so much the past couple weeks?" I heard David ask suddenly, causing me to pause mid text/bite. I looked over at him and he was gri

I was watching Netflix on the TV that David had set up in my room. Originally, it was in his, but he said since he mostly uses the one in the living room, I could have this one for myself. Taking another bite out of my cookie dough leftover from earlier, I looked over at the clock. It was already one in the morning. I guess I had been on a binge of Disney movies for longer than I thought.
During my favorite scene of Hercules, I heard a tapping noise coming from somewhere in my room. I paused my movie, and my singing, to make sure I wasn't hearing things. When another tap occurred, I looked toward my bedroom window and saw pebbles bouncing o

The scenery whipped passed my passenger window as me and David drove down the rode back to Duston. We had just dropped James off and I was still feeling very sentimental after getting to see all the foster kids again. Even Mrs. Henderson smiled when she saw me, and wrapped me in a big hug.
Me and James kept our goodbye short and sweet. He had promised me we would see each other again soon, might even make it a bi-weekly thing. He then told me he had been saving up for a car. Since James had been an errand boy for the foster home, he'd already had his license since he was 18. Another thing Mr. Henderson had helped him with. Then of course, be

Unlike the melancholic day the day before, this Tuesday morning was bright and sunny. James and I were sitting in a donut shop sharing a box of a dozen chocolate donuts. And I say sharing, but I mean arguing over.
"James. There are twelve pastries. I know math wasn't your best subject in school, but twelve is an even number. That means we can evenly split these betwix the two of us. Six and six." I explained slowly as if I were trying to bargain with a three year old.
James sat with his hand on his chin, looked at the donuts, then back at me, "Well I'm older, so I think I should get eight donuts, and you can have four." He sneered back at m

"Liam what the hell are you doing not in Primrock?" I asked angrily, not exactly knowing how to respond to the situation.
The little turd put a hand over his heart, "Awe Robin, you sound like you aren't happy to see me." He pouted dramatically.
"What the hell? That didn't answer my question. And of course I'm happy to see you! I think!..." I had entirely no reason to be mad, but I was very confused. And confusion made Robin angry.
Also why did I say I was happy to see him?
Liam smirked devilishly and strode over to me, which slightly scared me. He backed me into the wall and leaned close to my face, whispering, "You're really cute when you're

Well, for about a day I was genuinely happy.
Then Mr. Henderson died.
I was fiddling around with my new phone at the dining room table, downloading random games that even sounded remotely interesting from the app store. David was in the kitchen preparing breakfast when suddenly he'd gotten a phone call. I hadn't paid much mind to it, until he hung up and looked in my direction with sorrowful eyes.
Immediately I got a terrible feeling in my stomach, but the words that came out of his mouth sent the pain straight to my heart.
"Robin, Mr. Henderson passed away in his sleep last night."
I didn't know how to react when he told me the news. I

Once again I woke up to some savory smells that made my stomach growl like a wild wolf's. Taking off my covers, I threw my legs around the bed and hopped off. I exited my room and found myself following another set of amazing smells to the kitchen. On the dining table was a classic plate of pancakes, bacon, and eggs, with a note next to it.
I sat down and grabbed a fork with one hand, and the note with another. As I took a bite of my eggs, I read the note;
Robin,
I woke up late and had to hurry to work, but I will be returning home around 2pm. The house is all yours till I'm home. Or if you'd like to go out, there's a bike in the garage so
When I woke up, I was in my new bed. Unaware of what time it was, and lacking a clock in my room, I slid out of the covers and looked out my window. The sun had set, but there was still a blue and orange tint in the horizon. If I had my things unpacked, I'd snap a shot of this moment and add it to my landscape binder.
I wondered what kind of fresh photos I'd be able to take around my new surroundings. It made me giddy to think about all the new exploring I'd be able to do. Being in a neighborhood might make it harder to find environmental settings, but I hoped that there might at least be a few interesting finds.

We sat in another uncomfortable silence, this time on the couch. Facing forward, looking down, not saying a word, for a solid three minutes now. We both made continuous efforts to begin speaking, but so far we both have failed. I knew I was ready to talk, and I wanted to stay serious and angry at him. But David had been trying so hard to make me happy and at home. I feel like I'd break his heart if I even raised my voice at him.
I took in a breath. "Seventeen years is a long time..." I finally began. "And when you're an orphan, it's a long time of feeling unloved, unwanted, abnormal, and- and a handful of other feelings." I choked, realizing

I hadn't realized I had fallen asleep. When my eyes opened up, I saw a slideshow of houses out the window. Every house looked nice and clean, and the yards were even green and well-kept. I looked at the clock, still slightly dazed. It was 2:17pm, around the time for our estimated arrival.
"So how long have you lived here?" I asked, as I tried stretching with the little space I had.
David had flinched when I spoke, not realizing I was awake again. I giggled at the fact that I had man a grown man jump with my feminine voice.
When he looked over at me smiling, he smiled with me.
"Actually barely even three weeks. Before here, I lived in
