10 days after i started the "Choose your role" poll, am calling it over to check the results.
I was honestly interested in seeing what people had to say about this one, and here are the results!
From a total of 81 votes up until the moment i am writing this, 37% of voters chose switch
On a close second place there's Sub
, with 33% of votes (28 people).
20% chose the Dom/Domme
role (17 people).
And finally 10% of voters decided they were a potato
(8 people). Can't blame them! So tempting!
Funnily enough, and completely aware that this doesn't at all depict the whole bdsm community around the world, it does match with my overall previous idea on what roles people preferred, especially in the kinky SL community. Many folks in both Sub and Dom/Domme roles have at least considered moving onto Switching to have a taste on what the other side of the ropes feels like, which, in my humble opinion, is a good thing.
Although i respect those who prefer to remain in their preferred role and stick to it to the end of times, i can ascertain from personal experience that seeing things from the other side gives perspective.
Knowing what it feels like to give up control helps a big deal to improve Domming skills. Maybe what you thought was something cool doesn't really feel like it when you recieve it. Feeling what a Sub feels can help better understand the intricacies of a BDSM relationship, which is by no means a simple sort of relationship. And this is a two way road.
My conclusion with this little poll remains as it was before it started, it just got further proved (up to a point, of course. Again, i know not everyone voted so i can't speak for everyone here).
Most people have decided to give it a go at switching roles either with a partner or with just about anyone, and in most cases, i'd say it has helped them improve their skills quite a bit.
So today's piece of advice, if you'd allow me to say it, would be to give it a go. It's not for everyone, of course, but it's certainly an enriching experience which can lead to better experiences with your partners and even lead to discovering some things you didn't even know they were inside you!
Opening to new things and leaving your comfort zone can be hard, but in most cases, it can lead to a whole new world of possibilities i highly encourage everyone to at least consider trying!
So that's it, until next time, lovelies!
