My Bio
IN DEFENCE OF ANALOGUE. Because digital isn't real. A row of numbers is not a picture. I can't hold it up to the light, unique, impossible to reproduce. I can't watch it come into being. I can't curse my unchangeable mistakes or cheer my mistaken successes. Analogue is less efficient. But it is alive.

It is black and white and amazing.  I am really really pleased with these photographs.  Somehow the black and white can mask some of the colours which just don't work in real life but you can do nothing about.  Also if I can get access to a dark room it will make photography so much cheaper which would be very handy. Shot a roll on the Brilliant today but I don't know if it worked properly or not.  For some reason I think I only shot eight pictures and there should have been twelve.  I suspect something to do with the numbers on the film backing for various reasons.  I will go and do some research tomorrow. I feel like I need to find a purp

My apologies that I haven't uploaded anything new recently (if anybody is actually grieved by this).  Due to reasons of Ubuntu and sisters all the scans I did recently are trapped on the hard drive of a laptop without power.  And short of spending two hours again scanning them in I can't do anything about it for ages which is annoying. On the bright side I found a Voigtlaender Brilliant in a camera shop today.  And bought it.  Of course, even though I have no money really and already have a probably better medium format machine.  But it is German engineered!  And has a lovely leather case!  And it was built probably between 1932 and 1937!  H

Which is technically just a couple of extras from the project I finished a few months ago and have just got around to scanning in.  I have 38 doors!  I need to decide on an order to put them in: order of the foundation of the college, order of the construction of the building, or the order in which I went to them (so you can see the day wearing on as I wander criss-cross all over Oxford in possibly the least logical order).  Does anyone have any thoughts? I am going to Paris on Thursday with a guidebook from 1913 and a phrasebook from 1925.  It should be fun.  I like Paris.  I may even take a camera (1981).  If I don't come back I will event
