A very long time ago, when the world was young and the tribe knew almost nothing of the world, one man came that told us all how things worked. And for many years the tribe believed everything he said. His name was Mr. Religion, and he had an answer for every question. Since nobody else had any answers, the answers given by Mr. Religion were accepted, even venerated as ultimate truth.
The tribe lived well, they felt secure in the knowledge that they had the answers, and they didn't worry if other tribes had their own Shamans that gave those tribes other answers, it didn't matter all that much. On occasion, two tribes might meet, and even fight over the differences, but it was rare enough not to be a big problem.
