the last day...

I absolutely love this piece. Watercolor is among my favorite media, and you use them to good effect here. The color choices give the painting such a happy mood, which is in direct conflict with the macabre theme. It makes me want to clap my hands with pleasure at the same time I want to close my eyes and scream "Groooooossss!" It is such a pleasant conflict of emotion!

I particularly like the green sky and the way you chose to texture the clouds. It adds to the overall sense of marvelous unreality.

If I have any complaint about this piece, it is born of its impact on the amateur forensic scientist in me. The placement of the various pieces (lion, tamer, tamer's head) make it seem highly unlikely that the lion tore the tamer's head off with his hind leg. And the blood spatter is all wrong.

However, the bottom line is that I don't care. The piece is gruesome, funny and nicely executed. Well done!
