(Version 5 - July 13th 2016)

Hello guys,

lately I got a lot of the same questions and I think it´s better to answer them once here.

(Version 5)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What program/tools/equipment do you use?
A: Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 10 64-bit PC - 28 inch monitor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which tablet do you use?
A: Wacom BambooFun Pen&Touch (middle size).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Are you using custom brushes?
A: Yes (e.g. cloud brush, rock texture brush).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How long do it takes to make a picture?
A: Usually I don´t know exactly. Depends on the image. Between 8 hours and over 20 hours already happened. I take my time to finish my images. I've learned that my pictures getting better when I'm not rushing and work for several days at a piece.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: When did you start with digital painting?
A: In the beginning of 2011.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Did you paint/draw before you started with digital painting?
A: Not really seriously. Some sketches here and there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do you take commissions?
A: Yes. But please send me an email at frankatt.art@gmail.com. Requests on DeviantArt will not be answered from now on. I want to separate the work from here.
And please send me some information about what you need (three to four sentences), so I can tell you if I´m the right man for this kind of job.

I´m not able to work for 'huge' projects. (e.g. games). Unfortunately I have only time to paint some paintings for a client. =( (about 1 - 2)
Please also consider that (currently) my strength is to paint environment/landscape paintings. I think you will not be happy with the result of one of my portrait/character design/etc.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do you work for free?
A: No.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I buy one of your existing paintings?
A: Yes, but I only sell full rights (no shared license etc).
Please send me an email at frankatt.art@gmail.com and tell me which painting(s) you want to buy. Price will be negotiated.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do you use PayPal for the payment process?
A: Yes, I prefer it.
Only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland I will use usual bank transfer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What do I get if I buy one of your paintings?
A:
- Commission: Full influence of the development process. Every bigger step will be send per email.
- In the end (after payment arrived) the PSD-File (all layers, full size). I use Dropbox for the image transfer.
- Full rights of the painting (copyright, etc.).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which paintings are available for purchase?
A: Please check out my 'Painting List For Purchase':

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: May I use one of your paintings?
A: You are allowed to use my images as desktop background.
Please don´t upload one of my images on any other site without my permission.
For sharing, please use the Shared-Buttons on DeviantArt (top right corner of each painting site).

You are NOT allowed to remove/change my signature or other parts of the image or use it for your work. (overpainting, cut off, etc.)
You are NOT allowed to use it in order to make any profit with them. If you want to buy a picture with full rights, write me an email at frankatt.art@gmail.com.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Could you activate the download option for the image XYZ?
A: No, sorry. In the past some of my work were linked on other pages without my agreement. To still have a bit of control over them, the option is disabled.
When you want to download it, right klick on the image, save as. So it´s not the full size of the image, but I think it´s still ok for the personal use.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How did you learned to paint?
A: Learning by doing, do studys, youtube, www.ctrlpaint.com and (very important) have fun with it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can you tell me any tutorial sites you used?
A:
- Ctrl+Paint -> ctrlpaint.com
- Feng Zhu Design -> www.youtube.com/user/F…
- Tyler Edlin -> www.youtube.com/user/T…
- Sparth(Nicolas Bouvier) -> gumroad.com/sparth
- Chris Oatley -> chrisoatley.com/
- Daarken -> enliighten.com/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Where did you get your inspirations?
A: This question is really hard to answer... Watching a lot of paintings/photos. Sketching. Movies. Games. Everything.
But I think it helps a lot to watch a lot of different arts.
E.g.:
- fuckyeahconceptart.tumb…
- conceptships.blogspot.d…
- visitheworld.tumblr.com…
- and ofc www.deviantart.com/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will update these FAQ from time to time. So when you have any other questions, please ask. =)
Best regards.

Hello, I would like to know if I can use one of your images to publish it in the Wattpad application, of course the image would not be modified or altered and it would be explained where it comes from and who is its author.

Knowing that I will only use the image as inspiration to create a story and I will put it as a multimedia file so that the readers know it.

Thank you, I await your reply.

PS: I don't know English and I am using a translator, so sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes.

Hey Frank. I love your art and it fits very nicely into an RPG setting I created: airships, places with a lot of verticality.
I was wondering if there is more information about the JRPG you mentioned. Do you use any available resources? You have a campaign log? (German resources are ok - I speak German)
FrankAtt's avatar
Hi, thank you very much.
The only information is the game itself.
You can download the latest version here -> www.dropbox.com/sh/bbdx0wt9qqq…
(It's still an alpha and over a year old.)
I hope to release a next version this year.

The only available resources are some textures and sounds.
You can download them on www.textures.com/ and freesound.org/
All other assets are done by me, so they are not available.
Is there a tabletop roleplaying campaing setting for your world?
FrankAtt's avatar
No.
Just my own JRPG is settled in my world.
Frank:

Amazing stuff, all of it, and possibly just what the doctor ordered.
If you have a mo' to have a look at this blog post, let me know if you're at all interested.
Thanks.

Truly amazing work here FrankAtt.  How would you feel if your landscapes were used as inspiration for worldbuilding for book/novel/story ideas?  Would that be ok or something to be avoided?
FrankAtt's avatar
Thank you.
There is a bit of difference between get inspiration of an image or just copy it.
As long my ideas will not copied everything is allright.

What are your usual rates for commissions?
FrankAtt's avatar
Depends on the commission / negotiation.
More details -> more time -> higher price.
Usually I try to earn 20-30 Euro per hour.

I enjoy to paint landscapes at most and create scenes.

Can I buy your pictures as a poster? If so, how?
FrankAtt's avatar
No, I deactivated this option here.
Why not? I'd love to own a poster copy of some of your pictures!

Very nice. I appreciate you posting this, answering questions like this gives us a chance to know a little more about you and your workflow--and although it's already been said, I'm very impressed to hear that you started digital in 2011 and you've pretty much mastered your landscape painting style :wow: If I have time, I'll try to check out those resources as well, thank you =)
FrankAtt's avatar
Thanks. =)
No problem. I hope these resources can help.
