Phil the groundhog by francoclun Phil the groundhog by francoclun
I do not know what the original Phil has predicted, but in Italy the weather is terrible. The drawing is a couple of years ago, on the usual 300 grams watercolor paper. About 20 hours

That's a really great drawing! I like the level of detail in the fur, and the rocks. He has an almost regal look on his little face :)

I'm obsessed with groundhogs! You're quite the master with drawing fur/hair. Drawing hair is the most stressful thing for me.

Thank you very much. :D Do you know negative drawing and indenting? For drawing hair and fur are useful techniques.

Never heard of indenting before. By negative drawing do you mean just leaving it white and drawing around that area? That's what I do. I have no tools small enough to erase for hair.

Wonderful work!

Do you use the eraser to open spots of light or let the white of the paper?

Thanks. No, I don't use eraser, I use techniques called negative drawing and indenting :D

Looks like an early spring to me, and he (phil) is more interested in the sun than his shadow... What you do is amazing. Can't wait for your next creation.
