B) i love how energetic this is,and the recyclable Green Lantern is a spiffy idea.
How do you get huge chunks of bristol board onto the screen anyhoo, is there a giant scanner somewhere i don't know about?

I haven't used a bristol board in AGES.

The details are outstanding.

LOL... how 'bout it. I'm like a frigging fossil, for still using the stuff. So many folks have migrated to totally digital... while I'm still digging it old-school.

Thanks for the props, FURAN-SAN! :w00t:

Hheheh. I was once a proud user of bristol board. I loved the texture and feel of the paper. Heck, I still have like 5 of those brand new on a bag covered in dust. I turned digital cause, well, pencils and markers where not on my side. ^^; (They hated me....so I jumped to pen art work).

But hey, no worries you overly cool frigging fossil you. ;)
Artist like you keep the old-school alive and of course, can prove that old-school artwork is still amazing and it still can be used to show the inner soul of the artist and present a wonderful idea.

You keep doing greatness!!

So many fingers. o.O

Interesting image, though.

Yep, too many fingers to mention... that's like five fingers on each hand, plus two opposable thumbs, multiplied by how ever many generations ...um that's like math I can't even do.

:D

Thanks for the compliment, NOVALYYN!

:)

Yeah, I hear ya, SIMPLY KAREN.

Back in the day-- I created a comic book character for DC comics, called Adam. He is an alien, and represented here in various incarnations. He is a member or a police force called the Green Lanterns, that each protect their own sector of the universe from bad guys.

My particular Green Lantern is one that loves nature, and plants, and stuff. Everything is renewable in his Garden Planet. He can be the poster child for "recycling" because when he dies, he is born again... literally. He is the only member of his race, so when he is gone, he is gone. Extinct means extinct, and if that's not earth day material, not sure what is. He was "Green" in more ways that one, before anyone had coined the term "earth day".

Anyways... Its been a really long time since I got to draw him, so I wanted to scratch that itch. It was not done by design, but it certainly all fell into place. The Earth Day timing was just a happy accident... or maybe it was all subconscious.

Hoping that makes some kinda sense...
and sheds a little bit of light on the subject.

Thanks for the compliment on the drawing.

I've always found the word "Bristol Board", mysterious and intimidating. I have no desire of discovering what it is. I want to be confounded by the mere sound of the word for a longer time. I had a friend from art school who used this for a piece but when he removed the cover the illustration had already distracted me from checking the actual bristol board.

What nice line! Especially on some of the trees and the leafy bushes in the background. A really nice mix of sharp and empty space vs full space. Good work! ^^

I doubt that most people on DA are Lantern fans. They probably looked at this pic and thought... "What the hell???" :)

LOL ...you think looking at those hands is weird. Try trying to draw them that way... :wow:

Its like I have to unlearn everything I ever learned about drawing hands correctly. At least trying to... not as easy as it looks. It's like, no way man, hands don't do that... and then I have to over-ride that instinct.

Thanks for the kind words, MAXIMUS THE DARK!!
