Mr Beakers

I found this gray piece of wood with a hole in it last summer, when we went swimming. I thought it'd make a perfect little traditional birdhouse. It's a fridge magnet now. I used sparrow as inspiration for the bird, but I adjusted the feather patterns to my liking, e.g. so that I could see his eyes better. And make them fit. It's one small bird. Tough one to photo too.

The whole thing is just under 5 cm tall, so about 2 inches.
It's made of wood, cardboard, wire, masking tape, toilet paper, glue, paint. And magnets.

Thats so Cute ๐Ÿ˜ƒ the bird is made out of clay then?

hmm, you never thought to make a raven? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you :thanks:

The bird is actually not clay... I started by making a small wire frame to go inside it, for the feet and everything, but then it kinda grew and I started to worry that clay was not going to stick to it, so I just wrapped up the frame with glue and paper. Soft paper. Toilet paper. ^^;

And for this one, I didn't consider ravens. I just wanted a small colourful fairytale bird, who might live in a birdhouse. Ok, it didn't turn very colourful, but it's more colourful than just black :D

Ah! Toiletpaper! I use it too together with wooden glue and water... think its work good as paper mach.

ah, for i was wonder if you have read Edgar Allen Poeโ€™s The Raven ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I'm familiar with Poe's Raven, although I'm not sure if I've read it. More likely I've heard someone recite it, or parts of it anyway :D Tis pretty cool.

Yeah ๐Ÿ™‚

say, what kind of materials would you tip about if one would like to make a lifesize raven? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm... :confused: There are too many possibilities.

I guess an easy, cheap way would be to crumple up newspaper and wrap it with masking tape to get the basic shape first. Then doing neater, smoother layers on top of that, either with paper mache or some type of clay maybe. It really depends on what you like/want. Then there's all the details. You could use beads for eyes, wire for feet, maybe glue black feathers for texture...

I think at least Bentley house minis on YouTube has a tutorial for making a small dragon with this type of technique.

Hmm i dont know if i got enough black feathers, but i can always color them black ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚

ah, Thanks for the tip ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
