Log 91: Warning and Apologies

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 2, 2013, 6:49 AM
Ladies and Gentlemen I don't normally do this but I feel I need to let loose some steam and make my views heard. I would like to apologize as I'm probably gonna use some bad language but I shall try and minimize it as much as I possibly can. This Rant is something I've wanted to let loose for a while now and ode to talking with a few people and on reflection to how things have been going in the media today and all sorts I feel it appropriate I let loose.

Okay as you all know I am an aspiring writer, if you didn't know you really should have been paying more attention. My main projects are a DC comic idea and my own novel trilogy involving heaven and hell and my own look on how God and Devil act. I'm as you may have guessed an avid fan of Batman, also like Doctor Who, Star Wars, Sherlock, all sorts. However as of late I have noticed people tend to take these mediums of fiction...too seriously. Remember when Dark Knight Rises premièred and that mad bastard claimed he was the Joker and shoot up a lot of innocent people leaving the theatre, or when kids enact some stunts they have seen from an assassin's creed game, and moments when people link events in fiction as direct reflection as how 'messed up' reality actually is and use it to cite their argument. And as usual in response there is always the clarion cry as always 'ban the movies, ban the shows, ban the games, ban them all! Think of the children!'
....
Right here's a notion for you, just a thought...have you ever considered that the problem is not in fact the medium of fiction in question, but in fact you; the people. There is one basic thing we must always remember with stuff like Batman, Superman, the Joker and the like: They are not real.
There isn't actually a man dressed all in black with a cowl beating up criminals, nor is there a psychopathic bastard with green hair killing hundreds of people it's all fiction. That evil bastard in Colorado is to blame for his atrocious crimes, the people who made the film can't be held accountable for inspiring his actions...they aren't psychic, they can't predict how each and every person is going to react to their work. And as for the kids impersonating Assassins from Assasin's creed...those games are aimed for a mature audience, like young adults because the content involves...hmmm, killing, blood, violence and more often or not a plot which can make your head spin with metaphysical and historical complexity...why the hell would you allow kids who haven't fully developed common sense be exposed to that kind of material which they are clearly not ready for. That's not a reflection of the game creators, surely that's a reflection of people who allow the children to be exposed to this kind of thing and then allow them to enact the bloody stunt which is clearly not mean to be tried at home!

I will admit that on occasion stuff like DC comics does make a point on real life issues, usually with a poignant message to make us take a long hard look at ourselves. In fact my good friend :icondkalban: who is also an aspiring writer wanting to get to write for DC did this
Superboy: Speaking For The Victim by Dkalban
In which he deals with the real issue of Rape victims, if you haven't read it I fully recommend it...it's done in good format and makes a bloody good point! However this is not to say what happens in stories like Batman are an actual reflection of what bloody goes on in actuality. Just because super criminals are escaping from Arkham Asylum every other month and such doesn't mean crooks are getting out of prison to endanger us in real life. I mean I know it happens but from I'm lead to understand prison escaping is much harder than the movies present, tax money pays to keep those bastards behind bars so I expect it to work.

Now I have no problem whatsoever with people dressing up as their heroes, cosplay is good and I have dabbled in that field myself but we all know it's all make believe. It's not real, at the end of the day there is no gotham City, there is no Arkham Asylum, no Metropolis and no bloody heroes and villains fighting in the sky. It's all designed for the soul purpose of entertaining us, don't take it too seriously...because we have much bigger and real problems going on in the REAL world around us. Don't blame the films, don't blame the video-games...I blame the people who seem incapable of accepting responsibility for their actions and try to force the consequences onto the creators of fiction.

Okay Rant over, I apologize for the long winded bollocks and if you actually have read this I salute you because I understand no one really likes seeing some stupid git get on his high horse and try and tell people what's what and what's not. That's not the purpose of this rant, I'm just basically voicing a point of view...feel free to listen or ignore...I just needed to get it off my chest.

It's interesting to note that while we disagree on some things politically, we do agree on a lot more.

Some people are truly evil and need to be put down.  This man, if you can call it that, obviously planned to do this and even booby-trapped his apartment to kill many more.  This was premeditated mass murder for shits and grins and those kind of people have been around since the dawn of civilization (hell, some even rise high enough to become political leaders, but that's another topic for another time).  Sadly, our legal system doesn't want to do their job and deal with these monsters accordingly.

As for "Shitty Parents Doing a Shitty Job", that could be the case...but trust me, there are some people who are just pure evil by nature.  His "shitty parents"and upbringing only helped his unstable mentality along.

I agree with you on that note, that killer was indeed a monster and I am aware of his booby trapped apartment

Hear hear! I mean, I did a paper in college on this subject showing that most of the time the people who did these crimes were pretty messed up to begin with so its unfair to blame games/comics/movies/etc. As someone once described it, "Call it what it is, 'Shitty Parents Doing A Shitty Job'". I mean, some parents use games, etc, in lieu of a flesh and blood babysitter. It's nuts. There is evil in this world, but its because it exists in humanity without the aid of media.

And thanks for the plug!
