UPDATE:
I’ve cleaned out my account, sad to say DeviantART is truly dead to me. I haven’t deleted my account in order to keep a few things still up for external linking purposes, but for it’s clear that AI art is going to be the future of DA. I’m permanently distancing myself from the platform as I find it difficult and joyless to browse with such an endless deluge of AI generated slop. My work is still on other platforms, follow my linktree: linktr.ee/foxorian
I recommend looking up and using Cara.app. It's trying to become a DA, ArtStation, and Twitter replacement all in one!
ORIGINAL:
I've been a long-time user of DA, even if in the last 8 years I haven't been very active, I still have this 20 year old account that I submit all my latest work to.
DA didn't ask for this problem, and I don't envy the fact they have to deal with it, but it has to be dealt with.
Any given time you visit DA, a good 50% or more of the front page images are AI Generated (Machine Learning Generated really,) and usually half of those are by users disingenuously tagging their work as digital art / illustration without any mention of AI generation.
I did a sample audit here demonstrating a typical DA front page: twitter.com/foxorian/status/16…
DA has said they want users to properly tag their work as being AI so that all users can filter AI generated images from being shown, but as RJ Palmer correctly told them, (paraphrasing) "That's a nice thought, but you know that won't happen, and any meta data tags made by your own AI algo are easy to remove anyway, so what are you really trying to do about this situation?"
DA has been bleeding users for a decade now. And the rise and volume of AI art constantly visible is, and will continue to drive away even more of its longest and most well known artists who got their start here.
Again, DA, along with other art sites such as Artstation, are not in an enviable position here. How this is dealt with IS complicated, but their solutions so far are either incorrect or are essentially inaction. DA has it much worse than Artstation on this, and has a lot more to lose than Artstation if they continue to lose real human artists. DA has had many opportunities to 'come back' over the last decade and squandered them all -- this hurdle is their last chance. DA is at risk of becoming a site just for AI generated images and prompt-slinger artists. If "DeviantART" becomes "DeviantAI", I'll be permanently closing my account and I'm sure I won't be the only one.

Look mate I get it this art is technically stealing art and reforming it, which I can understand why artists are mad about this.
Sometimes I get pissed over it but the only reason people are doing this is because they either have really bad art skills or they’re just lazy for me though I did it to see what it feels like and I stopped for good but it isn’t that serious. It might just be me though so don’t take this too seriously. :-/
