I'm sitting in front of the desk, applying for a job to be a lifeguard for the summer. I'm wearing my formal clothing, a white shirt and tie, black skirt, and dress shoes, so I could be able to give a good expression to them. The reason why I want to be a lifeguard is because I needed the money for these rough times and I love swimming in the sea.
"So, Miss Lutetia," Mrs. Adipova said. "She's an overweight lady of at least 400 pounds, dark brown hair, blue eyes, and she's wearing a pink polo shirt, black pants, and dress shoes. "How good are you in swimming?"
"I'm the best in my class," I said.
"Good," she said. "How about CPR? Are you any good at it?"
"Again, I'm the best in my class," I said.
"You do know that this is a job where one should be focus at all time?" she said. "Because, from what I had read here, you were fired from your last few job due to you not paying attention to others."
"I'm always paying attention," I said. "They just don't notice it."
"Really?" she said. "If you were paying attention, what's on that desk behind you?"
I thought for a second and said, "There's a glass, shape like a boot, that's being used as a pencil holder for seven pencils and four pens, and right next to it is a glass die that has roses engraved on all sides. There're also nine letters from a man named Jack Paramour about-"
"Ok!" she said. "You were paying attention. But you were only looking at them for a second. How could you remember them with such detail?"
"I have a photographic memory," I said. "I can remember things to the smallest detail, even if I only see it for a second."
"Ok then," Mrs. Adipova said. "We'll put you on our list and we will call you."
I stood up and shook her hand, wondering if that's a good thing. I then walk out of the room, bumping into a man in the progress. He has a ginger color hair with a goatee, blue eyes, and he's wearing a blue and white shirt and tie, blue pants, and brown shoes.
"Sorry," he said.
"It's ok," I said.
"Is Mrs. Adipova in?" he said.
"Yes she is," I said.
"Good," he said. "I'm Jack Paramour. What's your name?"
"Mine name is Michelle Lutetia," I said.
"Ok," he said. "Have a great day."
Mr. Paramour then entered the room where Mrs. Adipova's in. I sighed and, carrying my purse, walked to the exit, not thinking anymore of this. I don't know if Mr. Paramour's begging for a job or something else. I'm no good at piecing together things; I just remember the pieces.
I left the building and decided to walk the long way home. While it'll take an extra 15 minutes, it pass by the beaches and the ocean. I just wished to be with the sea because it's so peaceful. Even if nothing does happened below the sea, I still wished to be under the sea.
After walking halfway to my home, I'm neared the group of stores on the beach, or rather what's left. Most of the stores there are closed due to the failing economy and it's not summer yet. It's sad that one store there is closed because it's my favorite one. I used to go there with my mom and now it's closed, its just memories.
As I looked at them, I noticed that there's a new store where my favorite store was and it's open. It's a video game store with those video games characters on the windows. I'm not really interested in video games because they make no sense to me. But, seeing it where my favorite store was, it makes me want to go in there, just this once.
I entered the store and looked around it, seeing how big it is on the inside. I guess it used all the old stores here to make one big store. Walking around, I remembered the old store that was here. Being with my mom in those times; the only thing that could eclipse my wish to return to those times are to be in the ocean.
"Oh, hello," a man with a British accent behind me said. "I didn't see you there."
I turned around and saw him there. He has a dark brown hair that's flatten forward and sideburns, brown eyes, tall and skinny, and he's wearing a blue suit with red pinstripes, a red tie, and burgundy P.F. Flyers Center HI's shoes.
"Hello," I said. "Who are you?"
"I'm Mr. Decem Medicus, the owner of this fine shop," he said. "What's your name?"
"My name's Michelle Lutetia," I said.
"What can I do for you?" Mr. Medicus said.
"Nothing," I said. "I'm just looking around, remembering the old store that was here. I used to visit here with my mom."
"Ah," he said. "You and your mum must be close. How is she?"
"She died," I said sadly, "a year ago. She lost her battle with cancer."
"Oh," he said. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
"It's ok," I said. "At least she's in peace now."
"Yeah," he said. "Which gives me an idea. How about a game? I think I have the one for you."
"Sorry," I said. "I don't have a video game system."
"What? What? What?" he said. "I thought everyone would wand a video game I this time."
"They," I said, "don't really interest me."
Mr. Medicus sighed and said, "Well, how about a free system to go along with it?"
"No need to do that," I said. "Besides, my friend, Nick Amans, has some video game system I could use."
"Molto bene," he said. "Wait right there."
Mr. Medicus ran off to the back of the store, going to get some type of game for me, if there's one. While he's getting it, I looked at the systems on displays there. Some, like the Nintendo Wii, I've heard of from Nick, while others, like the PlayStation 4, I had never heard of. After about a minute Mr. Medicus ran back here holding the game.
He showed it to me and said, "What do you think?"
I observed the front cover to its detail. It has some type of bird, but its silvery white with pointed blue spikes on its eyes, a beak-like, ridged mouth, and a head that has a point to the back. It also has a long slender neck and body that's smooth and streamlined with several pairs of blue spikes-like protrusions running down its back and a smaller pair on its tail end, a dark blue underside, and the ends of its wings that looked somewhat like flattened hands. The title of this game's called Pokémon SoulSliver.
"What's that thing?" I said.
"That is a Pokémon known as Lugia," he said. "The Guardian of the Sea."
"Guardian of the Sea?" I said. "You've gotten me interested now."
"Yeah," he said. "Lugia may be the most popular Legendary Pokémon there is."
"Legendary Pokémon?" I said.
He looked like he's trying to think of something to say, but he sighed and said, "You'll learn soon enough."
"Ok?" I said. "How much will it cost?"
"I'm having a half-price sale now," he said, "so it'll be about 20 dollars."
"That's good enough for me," I said.
"Well then," he said, "allons-y."
He led me to the casher and scanned the game. He then placed it in a plastic bag and said, "$21.64."
I pulled out my debit card from my purse and handed it to him. He pressed a few button and, after a bit, the receipt came out and he placed it in the bag too. I expected him to hand me bag, but, before he did, he puts in a envelope in the bag.
"Before you play your new game," he said, "you should read the note. It held a warning, but I cannot tell you it because I think you'll believe I'm crazy if I do.
"I hope you'll have some fun."
I stood there, confused about what he had said, for a few seconds. I then headed towards the exit. Before I left, I turned around and saw Mr. Medicus there looking at me with his foxy grin.
I walked towards home, but I hardy walked 30 yards when I heard the strangest sound I've ever heard of behind me. It had a mechanical sort of wheezing, groaning noise, like an overused engine, repeating itself a few times. I rushed back as quickly as I can with my dress shoes to the video game shop, where I think the sound came from, but it wasn't there anymore. Instead it was the old shop that was there when I've shopped with my mom years ago. It's all run down, with broken windows and has a sense that no one was here.
'That's' I thought, 'strange. What had happened to that store that was there? And Mr. Medicus, where is he? Was that store never there to begin with? Had I just imagined it all?'
But I still got the game and the note, so where did the store and Mr. Medicus go? Creep out by all this, I decided to quicken my pace home. I hurried home, only slowly down just to see the sea, being so peaceful. If only I could embrace the sea and its peacefulness.
When I reached home, someone's there waiting for me in front of the door. He's tall, has black hair, blue eyes, and he's wearing an orange shirt with a red Hawaiian shirt over it unbuttons and jeans.
I smiled and said, "Hello Nick."
"Michelle, my belle," he said. "How did it go?"
"She said that I'm on their list and they will call me," I said.
He sighed and said, "That's a bad thing. It usually means that they want you to go and to never come back."
"Oh," I said, "I see."
"Cheer up," Nick said. He then noticed the bag I'm holding. "What do you got?"
"Er," I said. I pulled out the game from the bag and showed it to him. "This."
"Sweet," he said. "Pokémon SoulSliver! Where did you get this?"
"From that shop on the way here," I said. "It's a bit strange."
"How so?" he said.
"It's just," I said, "one minute the store was there and the next it was gone."
"Gone?" he said. "How could a store disappeared in seconds?"
"I don't know," I said. "All I know is that it's gone and now I'm afraid to play this game."
Nick chuckle and said, "Don't worry. It's just a game. It's not like something would pop out of it. Come on. Let's go to my house and play it with my Nintendo DSi."
We walked to his house, which is next door to my own. We entered it and Nick went to his room to get his DSi while I sat on his couch, feeling intimidated by the wall behind me, which's a large mirror. After a bit he came back holding it.
"Shall we play?" he said.
"One moment," I said. I pulled out the envelope from the bag and showed it to him. "Mr. Medicus told me to read it before I begin playing it."
Nick rolled his eyes and said, "Michelle, it's probably the standard games warnings. Just put it aside for now."
"Well," I said, "ok."
He opened the game box and pulled out some type of container. He then opened it and pulled out some type of small computer chip. He put it in his DSi and handed it to me. I turned it on and, with great difficulty, I got to the starting screen.
"Nick," I said as the intro plays. "Have you ever heard of the PlayStation 4? Because that's what Mr. Medicus also sells."
"PlayStation 4?" he said. "That isn't created yet. You must be-"
But then there was this great flash coming from the screens, blinding me for a few seconds. It then became black with it says ERROR 131793.
"Was that supposed to happened?" I said.
"N-no," he said. "It never done that before."
"What does error 131793 mean?" I said.
"131793?" he said. "There's no-"
Then there was some type of ripping sound from behind me. I stood up and turned around, seeing some type of tail coming from me. It's slivery white with a pair of blue spikes-like protrusions on its end.
"Nick!" I said. "Was this supposed to happened?"
Flabbergasted, he said, "T-that's impossible! That couldn't happened! You've grown a tail!"
I looked at my hands and saw them becoming slivery white, like the tail, and flatter. I then heard ripping sounds from behind me. I rubbed my back and felt several spiky things there. I looked at Nick, and he looked scared and worried about what's happening to me.
"N-Nick," I said. "What is happening?"
"I-I don't know," he said.
Then there's another ripping sound from below me. I looked down and saw my feet becoming larger, ripping apart my shoe. I lost my balance and fell on to the floor. I closed my eyes tightly, telling myself that this isn't happening and this is all a dream. After about a minute I opened my eyes and saw Nick next to me. He looked sad and scared at the same time.
"Michelle," he said. "I don't know what had happened, but...you've somehow turned into a Lugia."
'What!?' I thought.
"Gah," he said. He put his hands on his head, as if he's having the worst headache in his life. "That hurts. Please don't shout in your mind so loudly."
'Huh?' I thought. 'You can hear my thoughts?'
"More like you're telepathy me your thoughts," he said. "Didn't you know? Lugia communicate through telepathy."
'Wow,' I thought.
I gotten up from the floor and hit the ceiling with my head, realizing that I've grown very large, even larger than Nick. Looking at the mirror wall, I saw that my arms are now wings with the ends of them are like flattened hands and my legs being more digitigrades-like, my body has become silvery white with pointed blue spikes on my eyes, a beak-like, ridged mouth, and my head has a point to the back. I also have a long slender neck and body that's smooth and streamlined with several pairs of blue spikes-like protrusions running down my back and a smaller pair on my tail end, and a dark blue underside.
I looked at Nick and thought, 'What did this.'
Before Nick could answer, we heard the strange wheezing, groaning noise, like the one I heard on the way here, repeating itself a few times. It then stops and, after a bit, Mr. Medicus entered the living room.
"I think I better explained a few things," Mr. Medicus said.
"Who are you and how did you get here?" Nick said.
"I'm Decem Medicus," Mr. Medicus said. "As for how I got in here, I used your room for my store."
"What?" Nick said. He ran off to where Mr. Medicus came from and, after a minute, he came back in shock. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO MY ROOM!?"
"Don't get so uptight," Mr. Medicus said. "It'll be restored as soon as I leave."
'Mr. Medicus,' I thought. 'Did you caused this?'
"Indirectly," Mr. Medicus said. "You didn't read my warning, did you?"
"You mean those usual warnings?" Nick said.
"There's a reason why we have warnings," Mr. Medicus said. "It's to tell us what to be careful about."
Nick shrugged his shoulders and went to the couch where the envelope lay. He picked it up, opened it, and pulled out the letter. He unfolded it and said out loud, "'Because I'm not too skilled at using Athrú technology, there's a 10% chance that you'll be transformed into the figure on the cover.'
"Athrú technology?"
"Alien technology that could travel through time and space, while there's a room to filled up, and could transform any species in the universe," Mr. Medicus said. "It was founded by Unus Medicus, the first Medicus, who used it for a card shop. But he was completely unskilled at such technology so he would never know where he'll ended at and there's a 100% chance that one will be transformed into what the card is.
"But, as time went by, with every successor to the store, we've gained skilled at using it so we can know what time and place we'll ended at and can lower the chance of being transformed. Maybe I'll be the one that could lower it to 0%."
'OK,' I thought. 'Can you undo this?'
He shook his head and said, "There's nothing I could do. You'll have to have the Athrú to undo it and they are all dead. Well, maybe at least a couple may exists, but only at best."
'I see.' I thought.
"I'm sorry," Mr. Medicus said. "I'm so sorry."
'Don't be,' I thought. 'If what you've told me is correct, that Lugia is the Guardian of the Sea, then I could be with the sea forever.'
"Yeah, that's true," Mr. Medicus said. "Live life the best you can. That's what I've told Mike awhile back."
'I will,' I thought. 'I'll be going then.'
"Wait!" Nick said. "You'll destroy the house at your size. What will my family think?"
"Don't worry," Mr. Medicus said. "With my machine, I can repair it."
"O-ok," Nick said.
"You know," Mr. Medicus said to Nick. "You could come with me."
"Huh?" Nick said.
"Yes," Mr. Medicus said. "No matter how much I tried to deny it, no matter how much I don't want to go, I'll have to. Everything has its time and everything ends. So, will you be my successor of the store and took on the Medicus name?"
"Well," Nick said. He then stood there for a minute, thinking. "OK."
"Molto bene," Mr. Medicus said. "So, we'll be on our way."
'Ok,' I thought. 'Don't forget me.'
"Don't you forget me," Mr. Medicus said.
Mr. Medicus turned around and went to his shop with Nick following. Before he left he turned around and looked at me.
"Michelle, my belle," Nick said. "Until we meet again."
He then went off to the shop, where he'll be with Mr. Medicus and inherit it when the time comes. I looked up at the ceiling and, with the flap of my wings, I smashed through it and head towards the sea. After a bit, I've reached it and dive into the sea. I then went deeper and deeper into the sea, becoming happier and happier.
'I would like to be in an octopus's garden.'
"So, Miss Lutetia," Mrs. Adipova said. "She's an overweight lady of at least 400 pounds, dark brown hair, blue eyes, and she's wearing a pink polo shirt, black pants, and dress shoes. "How good are you in swimming?"

"Cody, come on you're gonna make a real fool of yourself, there's no way I can lift that weight let alone you." A friend begged in vain and yet the stubborn teen fuelled on hormones and the somewhat revolting pizza he devoured last night, was insistent on making his mark. His efforts to divert the attention of the girls were somewhat flawed.Striding across the gym suite confidently, he presented himself in front of the black iron bench press. Blue cushioning juxtaposing the orange gym shirt worn by Cody. The black haired laid himself back, a background sterile and unforgiving, white tiles cracked and stained with blood, sweat and tears (no...
