THE DOGFIGHT by fox1432 THE DOGFIGHT by fox1432
This is a scene of a U.S. Navy Grumman F-14 Tomcat engaged in a Dogfight with a                                C.A.F. AR-SpaceDynamics X-02 AR-wing from the video game series Star Fox.

In such scenarios, I'm always wondering who would actually win.

Yes, the Arwing has shields, infinite ammunition, is very nimble and can shake off incoming fire by barrel rolling. But our planes are much faster (Though I admit that I don't know how fast an Arwing can go), probably better armoured (Okay, doesn't mean much) and possess rapid-fire high calibre-machineguns. Imagine a Thunderbolt shredding a Arwing in seconds with its Gatling should it be able to get one in its crosshair.

Though that pretty much limits our options to Hit-and-run-tactics, as our planes can't compete with the Arwing's manoeuvrability.

You Know I've wondered the same thing that's why I enjoyed making this scene. Yes the ar-wing is very superior for air to space combat but you haft to think the ar-wings Shield's are built to take on (lazer) fire and protect it from mid air collisions. Yes the barrel roll is very effective on (Lazer) fire but it has never been put to the test with (brass/live rounds) because the barrel roll emits a electromagnetic field to deflect the Lazer fire but brass is not magnetic so I could see the bullets ripping right through the Shield's. But when it comes to monuverabillity the ar-wing would have the Tomcat all day because of the ar-wings G-Diffuser system which means the pilot of the ar-wing would not experience any Gs while flying. while the Tomcat pilot would experience every bit of the Gforces. So each fighter has there advantages but when it comes to who would come out still flying I'm unsure.

And let's not forget, that the Tomcat could always pull a "Fuck this shit I'm out" due to its speed, where it would be impossible for the Arwing to catch up. We also have radar-guided missiles, so the Tomcat can engage the Arwing from a safe distance.

I actually think that the shields will also protect against ballistic ammunition, as we have seen in the games that it can hold off enemy missiles (Though Fox got pwned by one hit from the Halberd, but Brawl isn't canon), but they can't withstand a bulletstorm forever.

Just imagine how our plane's combat efficiency would improve if they could manage to shoot an Arwing down and reverse-engineer their technology.
