Story: 1039w

The nerves of the Townsend family could shake the ground, shake all of Dubai at this point... as they watched the young colt, Shadow Fox, slowly being walked to the gates. it feels as though the entire crowd is silent when the gates jaws open to allow the white colt access into the gaping maw.

Shadow Fox had been acting up all day, especially around the splash colt Agent of Hell, Shady had been squealing and pinning his ears, prancing, and gnawing on the bit as if it was candy coated. something he'd never done before...as mentioned the family was concerned for the colt, could it be puberty finally biting into him?

The gates swallowed its offering, who went in easy...until the Black splash came along. like a brair was stuck in his side the dom white let out a squeal that shushed the roaring crowd and riled up the other horses, he kicked clanging his shoe against cold metal on the gates closed mouth and squirmed in his stall. for once, Stephen was having trouble controlling his usually calm steed...and he didn't know why.

Not having time to think before the gates snapped open

creeaaak... slam!

The horse beneath him squealed in excitement and he lurched forward with as much force as he had in the Devils Mile, Stephen grabbed the black mane flying before him to regain his balance, Shady made quick work of squeezing in front for a bit before Demon surged past, this only pissed off the dom white more than he was. The Hellion was leading the pack down toward the first turn, Shady did not appreciate that, Stephen noted how aggressively his stallion was going for the other, he slid past Peppercini and Cream easy not entirely focused on the filly his entire mind was stuck on one horse...and no one knew why.

First turn cleared and thundering down the backstretch it was Shadow Fox and Agent of Hell neck an neck. Shady kept his ears pinned around the dark horse but seemed calm to a degree, "Whats wrong with you?"

Stephen didn't have time to register when some teeth nearly clipped him, had he not held Shady's mane he would have fallen off his horse. Shady would never bite him so it must have been... Stephen looked at the horse beside them part of his bridle seemed broken, he was snapping his mouth freely at anything and everything. being fully blinded didn't help Stephen was sure. this horse was out for blood.

Shadow Fox did not take the threat of losing his young jockey lightly, and in a fit of unleashed rage, for the first time in his life, Shady lunged at another horse, Stephen swore he saw the stallions eyes flash red as he reached for the nose of the attacker. with an angry scream, the other horse was pulled away ripping what was left of the noseband, Stephen had realized, and letting the teeth of the Demon free. he began snapping in the direction of Shady, who was still in a fiery rage himself, the two colts began to battle whilst their jockeys tried to break them up while continuing the race.

Agent of Hell, had managed to get a few bites on shady, Shady had managed a few bites on Hell..Stephen had accidentally dropped his whip when nearly being clipped. Both colts lead to the final turn neck an neck, foaming mouths and small bites bleeding slightly they took a break from the battle to focus on the race.

Shadow Fox wanting more than ever to show who dominated this race let out a scream and extended his body, instead of the nonexistent whip Stephen used his voice as a coaxing method, "Cmon shady forget the other horses alright? it's you and me, buddy, we can do this."

Jackie was shocked from what she'd just witnessed, Shadow Fox, FIGHTING another horse? this was almost impossible did her horse suddenly get possed?? she could tell Phillip had the same worried feeling as he watched the race silently, would this be the end of Shadow Fox's win streak? all because of a simple bridle malfunction on another horse?...

"I'm breaking shady after Dubai." Phillip finally offered some words into the void of silence that filled the area they stood.

"Because of?"

"The sudden attitude change. I want to make sure he isn't getting aggressive with other horses.if he is it isn't good."

"I don't understand he was perfectly fine when we arrived..."

"Let's just go down and meet up with Stephen, maybe he could give us the run down."

The two descended to the track as Shady was being led back, Stephen.. didn't feel comfortable riding him at the moment...

"Do you know what happened?"

"No, he just got really aggressive all the sudden! its like he wanted to kill that other horse I could barely hold his back from it...I'm worried about him."

"Let's get him untacked and we can have the vet take care of his cuts and bruises" Philli[ suggested trying to put the youngest at ease a bit, "I'm sure he'll be just fine after a small break..."

Stephen laid a hand on the colts muzzle and let out a pent-up sigh, "If he's aggressive Phillip what are we gonna do...?"

"Retire? he can't he hasn't even made it all that far ..."

Phillip pursed his lips and grunted softly, "That's true, I'd hate for it to come to it...but we don't need him to be aggressive he's a sweet horse I don't want him to be like Blackout...who got aggressive after he was sold or Stormbringer who was born aggressive...I don't know what to do but we will figure out something that's good for everyone alright? and if that something is..making this boy a stud and a pet then so be it..."

The family stayed silent for a moment, none of them liked the consequences of Shady becoming an aggressive racer...

Stephen was beginning to regret riding him in Dubai

its when Jackie piped up that the group smiled warmly, replacing their down trodden mood, "Whatever we do. Shady will never leave Fox Park. Agree?"

"Agree."

"Agree!"

"Now let's find a vet then some ice cream please..."
