A big ol’ tip on drawing cities from street-level. The drawings are pretty crude, (I did them very fast,) but I think they get the point across :)

Remember! Observe these things in real life as you walk around! This tip is just to make you aware. By observing in real life, is how you can really make it feel real!

Hope it helps you out!

How do you get such neat constructive lines though?

Thanks for placing that on here. I took art 20 years ago. However, if I found books dealing w perspective...my art came out like your first building. You are informative enough where you are not talking over the students head. Which is appreciative. Do you have anything on shading your buildings after you are finished? I get theist source. Yet if I place cars etc. it looks off. Thanks.

Thank you! I know this in theory, but sometimes it just helps a lot to have somebody just show things concreetly

This is a good reminder. Sure makes drawing a city scene more interesting, too.

Great tips! This is the kind of stuff that seems obvious once someone's pointed it out, but is so often overlooked in perspective lessons.

Reminds me of Boston! : ) Thank you for posting these cityscape tutorial/tip guides! I can't wait to fly home to Boston for a visit. I'm going to practice some of what I learned here.

Thanks again!
