"All life comes from blood and death." - Red Sonja
It's everyone's favorite metal clad, sword swinging, bloodied warrior, Red Sonja! I've been really wanting to do another Red Sonja piece. There's something about her that I really love. She's always so strong, determined and ruthless. In the times where she does show mercy and compassion, it's definitely noticed and makes you love her all that much more. The pencils were done by the lovely Harpokrates, an artist I've been a fan of sometime. I really, really wanted to try out my hand in his pencils because they are so unique and distinct. So I went through his gallery and picked out the first thing that really spoke to me, which was this one. I felt as if Sonja had been in a big battle and she was thinking of all the destruction and blood she shed. I imagined (from the angle Jay drew her from) as if from a semi-bird's view and the battle had taken place on the border of a now-frozen forest. This was a pleasure and both a challenge to paint realistically because I wanted to make sure the lighting was right and the shadows were correct. Anyways, feedback and comments are always welcome!

A stunning piece of The She-Devil With A Sword by you both! Similar to your point,I like how it feels like she's very reflective and deep in thought about a big, chaotic battle that she's just been in and that it feels like she's thinking about her life of violence and all of the destruction, death, slaughter and bloodshed that she's seen and been the cause of.
I hope Red Sonja's not too cold in that foreboding, wintry landscape!
