I helped with the design of the back to these Pokemon cards!?
Below is the reference material I used

It was my idea to get rid of the gold Aztec-like design, and keep the energy symbols on the back of the card. I also suggested that the pokeball give off rainbow light a little
Above is the Aztec like Card Artwork that inspired my design. seen below is that Design of mine actually..
Notice the placement of each energy symbol for both the Japanese cards and the Ancient Mew Promo cards..
For the Japanese cards there are 3 energy on one side of card and three on the other side of the card.
Grass, fire, and water on the Left
Electric, psychic, and fighting on the Right.
Neutral energy to the center
No joke, I designed the fact that there would be 3 on each side and that the neutral energy would move more up to the poke ball.
I discuss this below but I told them no adding new energy (they asked me what new energy??) I said it was missing Dark and Steel, so they quickly agreed 👍
