Green Tea

The room is quiet as I stare at my teacup.
Soft dog snores punctuating the swirl
of the ceiling fan as it spins, gently pushing
the small green banner that hangs out of my cup.
My stomach turns as I think of the questions
that lie unanswered, hard to touch, in the corner
of my mind.

What if I leave so suddenly
that everyone is left shocked in the wake?
Will my memory linger and the pain settle
so deeply that others lie awake staring intensely
into soothing cups of green tea, hoping
to nurse away the questions.
Why did you go so soon?
I wrote this after an acquantance was killed very tragically. Stuff like that gets you thinking...

very nicely done
the poem flows
and leads back to its original point
the images just hit you one by one sorta emphasizes the way that the person left you
very good :D (Big Grin)

tea is a good thing to think of these things over... especially chai. anyway... i liked it. it was simple and to the point, but still made me think a bit... about what would happen if i dissapeared... something to wrap my thoughts around. well done. =) (Smile)
