Spring Arisen

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.

I really enjoy the composition in this piece. The model itself is well constructed with a minimal of wrinkles or transitional creases. I am unable to tell if this is a digital composition or practical photography though. The vibrancy of the colors give everything a surreal look and the flowers in the foreground have a very "cartoony" quality to them. It looks as though the pink flowers have been painted to match the model and the effect brings some balance to the piece, though it does feel very heavy to the right due to all the purple amassed on that side. Unfortunately the pink flowers and their stems have a very monochrome look to them that detracts from the otherwise realistic colors in the rest of the piece. Allowing the stem and the center of the flowers to retain their original color might aid in this. Overall though, I like this piece and I wish you luck in the contest.

Thanks for the critique, it is well-written and insightful.

The picture was worked in photoshop with effects like selective colors, color balance, levels, curves and not composed digitally.
Selective color is mostly responsible for creating "color rings" and other artifacts that can happen when playing with the look.

All in all, you've given me a few things to think about in the future. Thanks again :)

Oh good, I'm glad. I was afraid I was getting too critical. Too be honest the 100 word minimum forced me to really go in depth; which I suppose is the point lol. Good luck in the contest :)

Sweet bunny and a very sweet photo. Great work.

I have only one thing bothering me and that's the color of the flowers bunny is sniffing, they are too artificial and too altered for my taste.

Thanks for the comment!

The middle flowers are actually not that far off from their original colors but, they did take on a bit of a strange hue and unnatural look during the process. ;p

hehe, yeah, I got the impression a lot of violet hues managed to get in the picture while processing it :D
