To start, I think this piece is very strong! It's very relaxing to look at and the soft grayscale add a lot of depth.
Starting off with vision.
It seems to give off the idea of a thirst for something. Possibly the need to free ones self from their current standing. They want to use the wings they have to get up and go. It's very nicely done!
Originality
We've seen lots of pictures like this; some creature/person looking off into the sun or moon, usually from the backside. But hey, there's rarely a reason to not be inspired by something, right?
Technique
Overall it's very smooth and the textures look nice, but the shading could use some work. Underneath the figure you can see a little line of light, it should be darker! The tail also look a little funny, it looks more like a soft rock than hair. Maybe work on making it thinner, less of a solid object. Also, the wings! Wings on birds don't get smaller at the base, they need to get lift from the air as they fly. If not, the poor thing will fall to the ground. Perhaps you can look and study pictures of birds in flight, sketching out how their wings appear. This can really help!
Impact
Very powerful and interesting! It makes me curious about the character, why they're looking where they are. It's overall a very nice piece!
