Urban Squalor by floydiac Urban Squalor by floydiac
Welcome to the city.

Ok, so the place itself isn't that bad. I used an infrared effect to make it look worse, and inflame the rain-water stains and rust marks that had come down off the railway bridge.

The location is Winchester Railway station, Winchester, Hampshire. Although to a fair number of the people who watch me, that is an already familiar sight. To a few others, it will be in september.

edit: added border and URL

Wow..I can't believe you made our own lil' railway tunnel look so seedy! :omg:
But still, its an excellent photo.. you do seem to have a talent for taking ordinary everyday things (railway tunnels, me etc..) and turning them into great photos! :D Soo.. do some more!! ;)

fair enough...

I feel the border makes it look more presented.

I though I had done my proper crit on this aages ago - sorry then for the delay!

Im liking this - it has atmosphere. The black and white was a good choice - it makes an area that is so familiar become highly distorted and very evil looking. That picture bodes...... and it bodes not well. It portrays your title well (what? Dark Raven managed an inventive title? :D ) Lol. I didnt notice the wonkiness of the shot until now - but it doesnt actually detract from the shot methinks. It contributes to the rough edge of urban life in a very subtle way. I dunno - youre probably thinking 'wtf?' by now! :D

niiiiiice slimy walls....!

heheh

Bye!

I KNOW THAT PHOTO:p it looks great now its on here and it does look like something from ww2 which is creepy, it may just be me but is that at a slight angle on the camera i can see or is it my eyes playing around as usual? this is a fantastic photo

I don't know...if I look at the markings on the road, there isn't. If I look at the wall, there is...it might be my off-centre angle.

i like it.

It reminds me of something grim.
Many a time have I walked under that bridge, in what can only be described as... not the best of moods. It Kind of sums all that up, and also my whole attitude to college lol.

I like it.
And I heartily agree with 's first comment :)

good work

Gosh this is dark and gritty, the atmosphere urgent and it somehow feels like a scene from WW2

Thanks!

And thanks for the fave!

I had wanted to do something with a photo since I took it, but it was very bland as a free-standing photograph, and it was slightly wonky. It occured to me to play with it.
