Sky through the blossom of a tree.

Quite simple...plesent colours...nothing special... but a good photo nonetheless IMO. :D

it could be an ornamental cherry. Not sure on that tho. I wouldnt say that it is the sky through the blossom as the main focal point is actually the trunk in this shot. It's beacuse the trunk is the darkest thing there. Althought the light on the trunk is lovely and dappled... (I do like the dappled light-through-branches effect, especially when you get it on roads where the light has shone through the leaves above.) Also the sky is very difficult to distinguish because it is that lovely pale blue you get behind a pale blossom. If you wanted sky through blossom you would have done better to do a closer shot and tried missing so much of the dark and dominant trunk out. The blossom is also very small (I knwo it is in reality too), even in the large view. Short of climbing UP the tree, i dont think you could do so much about that, beacuse a close up from the ground you would find that you only get the trailing edge of the blossom, not as a mass.

I know all that sounds a bit negative, but its really me commenting on your choice of description rather than the shot as such. As a shot i like it, its a nice way of portraying a tree by only showing a detail rather than the whole thing.

The description, in this case is what my titles normally have. It is quite literal, and shows what is in the photo.

I guess "tree in blossom with sky backdrop" would be slightly more appropriate.

I consider the trunk a rather fundamental part of the tree...and I did like the light.

I took a few photos fucusing more on the sky behind, but they all looked like I was taking a photo of the sky through a mesh with petals on it.

With the trunk, I love the trunks of trees, I love their harsh curves, their uninspiring colours...etc...always comes across as permenant and mighty.

In contrast to the blossom, which is delicate and temporary. I think it works...but I need to work on my titles.

People are welcome to think of them for me. :D

There is a lack of focal point here...I posted this photo because it is more ashtetically pleasing than anything else.

It is nothing special photography-wise. But I would rather let mother nature show off her beauty, rather than manipulating it.

can i just point out a few disagreements i have with your comments (these however are personal comments!) :

Tree trunks - uninspiring colours? I dont think so! There are a weath of colours in tree trunks if you actually look. This played a small, but significant part in my current project on colour. I do like tree trunks too.

The lack of focal point - there is a focal point, and its your tree trunk! Mainly where the two branches split into two just above the centre. The arrangementr of trunks draws the eye through the picture because of the mutilple branhings off. If it was a single trunk it would be different.

I do see the contrast between delicate and strong, and i do agree that it is sometimes best to let mother nature do what she does best, but i guess the problem I have with this photo is that trunks appear to almost be laid over the blossom because they are so strong in the peicture and there is not much blossom infront of them.

Im sorry i have to be so negative about this photo, i like the idea of taking a from the tree rather than the whole tree, but i dont feel that this shot works for me personally.

alright then, a lack of an intended focal point.

It's fair enough that it doesn't work for you. As for no blossom in front of the ttunk, I couln't help that. The tree was like that.

Beautiful! Love that time of year. We have autumn now, so all the leaves are falling down, quite beautiful in its own way too.
