Sakura's updates/news [2021/12/23]

Aloha everyone.

For those who don't know how these work, these Memo journals are basically my indicator from me to you that I'm still active (for the most part) and to inform you of anything that might have come up that will affect my posting schedule (however erratic it is).

So yeah, I haven't been posting these update journals for a while; mostly on the lines of that not much has really happened since then.

Current events (aka "Real Life")

Full-time job

It's been busy lately, let's just say that much. Last week, I worked 51 hours (which is 11 hours over the required 40); you can attribute that to Wednesday through Friday being 10 - 12+ hour affairs (without a lunch break) due to field work.

Essentially, I'm logging at certain sites and obtaining samples that I will inevitably do tests on later on. Add that on top of the lab work for previous projects, and yeah, I end up getting home at 7 PM (when I start at 7:30 - 7:45 AM).

Yes, I actually do get lunch breaks and not forced to work long hours without break, however if you are in the field, cannot really have a designated one, per say.

At least this week had no drilling, but still a bit of lab work to do (and preparing the samples that I had gathered last week). Half day today, so...

This is basically what logging is in geotechnical engineering, or least how the company I work for does it. (Except also add in hand auger/DCP and Modified California/RS, but the latter falls the same steps for blow counts. Count how much blows it takes for the [140-lb] hammer to push the sampler down 6 inches for 3 cycles; otherwise, cut it if you don't go 6" [or anywhere], which does happen, and is referred to as "bouncing" or "refusal".)

Current projects

This is probably what you're here for anyway, so let's lay them out.

1. Legacy artwork - Mostly stuff from custom archetypes I have made and/or stuff for real life ones I actually play / have interest in. These might be more attractive since they pertain to stuff that already exists (for the latter) and you know what to expect for them.

2. Deck Build Pack 4 - Currently named "Generation Unite". As of now, it's complete and I'm going to be posting them soon; first, the pics and then the cards. (Well, the final archetype anyway as you already got Sapphire Dream and Lifestream)

3. Sonic Forces archetype (Resistance Avatar) - Beyond needing to make artwork for the backrow cards, everything else like the card effects themselves (and monster pics) are done. I could probably post the images now if you want them.

4. Rudolph 2021 archetype - Yeah, this has been a little tradition since 2015, in the sense that I make (or expand on) an archetype based around our reindeer friend. I am still figuring out how to do it, considering a lot of my design time was on Deck Build 4 things. (Otherwise, I'm probably just redrawing Snowstorm Rudolph, or giving him a further evolution; an idea is probably him going Sage Mode with a wolf motif, considering that's what his name means)

Tentative / last resort?

Yeah, remember all the times I have mentioned the added Diver Deer/Equine (and Hazmat Animal) stuff, and maybe doing a storyline of such? That idea is on indefinite hiatus right now, but not necessarily off the table.

I may have some motivation to make another member based on the new variant, but we'll see how it goes.

Artwork will still be posted, but directed on the Diver Deer one.

New art site (Buzzly)

I've heard a few things about them lately that are not pleasing to know, so I've decided to stay off the site until their administration can behave themselves / act responsibly.

Speaking from my experience as a (happily retired) YCM moderator for 4 1/2 years (roughly), yeah, I've been through some of the same shit they're doing now (other staff members I worked with did it, or I myself did some of those things). Of course, the member base itself wasn't particularly workable to begin with during those times, but there was some other past drama involved.

Going a bit off topic right now, but my advice to the Buzzly admins (if they even bother to find this) is "clean up your act, and learn to administrate the site properly / behave like responsible adults [if they are]; else, don't be surprised people ditch" and I advise they do it soon.

Finishing up

So yeah, thank you to everyone who either favorited my stuff and/or began watching me since the last journal.

If I don't thank you individually, please note that I really am grateful for your support, even if I don't say it.

For those of you who I fave/watch, yeah, I do look at your stuff even if I don't actually say anything or fave. Reason is that I probably don't have time to look through everything on the limited time I have, and/or am not an art critic, so I can't give critique in this area. Reminder, I'm a STEM major / civil engineer by education/profession, I guess, so I don't have the artistic sense/training to give feedback on drawing stuff.

For those of you who I've faved, but not watched, trying to keep my following list low so I can give enough attention to everyone, and not get overloaded.
