* of course i could be wrong here but i do wonder based on his past behaviour if cricket actually meant to hurt caterpillar as badly as he did. in his eyes he's so used to taking all his aggression out on twig, clawing and throwing them around, only for them to later walk it off and be "fine" each time. that's all to say that maybe cricket wasn't trying to purposefully kill him and instead it was a similar "punishment" that went too far because he got swept up in his own emotions. to be crystal clear that does not make this behaviour any better or acceptable but based on crickets feelings towards him it makes me lean towards it not being entirely intentional.
