Another day on the Metro. Sigh. It feels like this 13 and a half minute ride happens every day on our way back from college. Probably because it does. Most of the time we have to stand, because of the surplus amount of other passengers on their own way back home there were never any seats. Infact there was hardly ever anywhere to stand, we'd both have to find gaps between the crowd to stand... on the bright side, it's Friday now. Means we don't have to repeat this same routine for a couple days now and we can recuperate.

We both lived together in the same apartment. It was better that way - the rent was shared and we had company all the time. Saves us both money... and from loneliness. So on that train, we stood beside each other as to not get lost in between the sea of strangers.

I looked up and down, at the dusty ceiling and shoe-print ridden floor, to avoid eye contact with surrounding strangers. I tried to preoccupy my own mind that day as I had left my phone at home, as I usually found myself doing. Sometimes I made small talk with you, but it only lasted a couple sentences.

My eyes lit up as I heard a muffled voice speak over. <Please prepare for the doors to open; we are arriving shortly.>

"Finally..." You hear me scoff. "We can get home. I'm collapsing on my bunk once we get back, I'm exhausted."

"Same... thank god for the weekend." I say. "Let's get off this dusty old train."

"Couldn't imagine a life without them." A relieved sigh came out. "But yeah, we're getting off as soon as the doors open if we don't wanna get trampled on."

Slowly, the transportation rides along the rails as the platform came into view, until it came to a full standstill. Slower yet were the doors. The long seconds the doors didn't open felt an eternity... I visibly looked agitated in anticipation. Then the doors inched open.

I leapt out at the opportunity, barging through the rows of people until I made it out. "FRESH AIR-!" You swear you heard me exhale as you passed through the doors too.

I looked back to you, smile on my face as where we lived was only a 2 minute walk from here. "Let’s get out of here, I need to be in the comforting embrace of my pillows literally ASAP..."

I smile at you, finding your display of the joy of freedom to be endearing. "Yeah, let's go home."

Thanks for the watch.
