On the Edge [Akuto-Veron]AkutoOverhead, far above the mountains of Vale, the stars seemed to twinkle through the gaps in the thick clouds. The wind rustled the grass and trees and seemed to howl softly, as if humming a melody. Around her, the wolves of Vale lay deep in dreams. But Akuto couldn't sleep. Several weeks ago, on the southern border of Vale, she had met a strange wolf. He'd explained himself to be a wolf of "Vektren", and his name was Veron. He had also referred to himself as a murderer - more specifically, a "Master of Death". The term sent chills down her spine, but more than that, it sparked a deep curiosity.Akuto hadn't thought about this encounter for several weeks, not since it had happened. But for some reason, now it had come back, and was tugging at her thoughts once more. The curiosity nagged at her. She couldn't shake it, and it forbade her from sleeping. Toss and turn as she might, the thoughts would not relent.
Reconciliation [Akuto-Wren]AkutoIt was near sundown by the time Akuto neared the Main Den. She had knowingly stayed away from the camp for most of the day. She wanted solace, and only the outer territory offered such seclusion. But now, she was prepared to return home - and to apologize, for the trouble she had given Wren. She needed to make peace, and to come to terms with her mentor. She paused at the base of the slope. What lay ahead of her? Would she find forgiveness? Hope? Akuto took one step, then another, and slowly, she climbed up the slope, til she reached the crest of the hill and stood before the camp. There she stood for a moment that seemed an eternity, before she found her step once more, and walked forth as if in a
What Brings You Here? [Akuto-Veron]AkutoThe rabbit sped through the undergrowth, Akuto hot on its tail. She rushed through the brush at a furious pace as the rodent slipped through the roots at breakneck pace. Akuto closed in on her prey, preparing to strike, when suddenly she burst from the trees and found herself racing across bare dirt. Surprised, she slowed to a halt. The rabbit darted away into some unknown hiding place, safe and sound, but Akuto didn't pursue. Catching the rabbit driven soundly out of mind, she instead bit her lip and tried to figure out how she'd gotten this far. She was at the southern border of Vale, perhaps even outside it, where Glasmuir Forest fell away into the Anvil. She must've been so focused on the rabbit that she hadn't realized how far south she had gone. Akuto growled with frustration and turned to follow her scent trail back, but stopped. Another scent caught her attention, one she hadn't smelled before but sent an edge up he
