The Archsage's Echoes - 4
Tom made it home, threw his backpack into the closet, and ran around at top speed to clean his room. It wasn’t actually that dirty yet. He’d only been staying in it for three days at this point. Move-in day had been last Restday and it was only Noonday. But still, both his son and his parents were going to be there soon. His parents had already seen the place. They’d helped moved him in. But he wanted to make a good impression on his son too. It was mostly just a matter of cleaning off the desk under his bed and making sure the floor was clear. Once that was done, all the anxious thoughts and worries returned with a vengeance. Where was the boy going to sleep? What was Tom going to do about clothes? And food! The boy was a giant. He was sure to have a giant’s appetite. He’d need to figure out if there were any doctors in Ilysipolis that took giant patients as well. And he really needed to get all of this done before school started. He also needed to start thinking about names. It

Prologue – 2034 Y.E. – Lukion “You can do this my warmth,” Lukion whispered to his wife. He struggled to ignore everything around him. How the ceiling of the normal sized room soared far over his head. How there were bars around them instead of friends and a midwife. He pushed all that away and focused only on his beautiful wife. “Breathe with me. In and out. In and out. Now push.” Pyrrha’s face, normally a dark orangish red, turned purple with effort. Blood flowed from her mouth as she bit her lip, forcing herself to remain silent. They couldn’t make any loud noise, or else their captor might realize that she had gone into labor. If he realized that too soon, then all would be lost. They had to deliver their son before he came back. They only needed a few moments alone with the child to give him the first and most important gift a parent could give. The only gift that Pyrrha and Lukion would be able to give their child. After all it was Eil himself, using parents, who gave a child
Max
Max shoved the nail toward the rat. He got its nose hard enough that blood came out. The rat scurried back pawing at its nose. Max made sure to keep his back to the gigantic trash can behind him. Thankfully the darkness of the night would hide him from any humans that might glance into the alley.
That didn’t stop the rat. It was way faster than he was. He was already scratched up a lot, but he didn’t feel the pain from them yet. His fear and the winter cold were pushing the pain away.
The rat eyed him and squeaked. Max winced as the loud noise pierced his ears. Max yelled as loud as he could and charged the rat swinging his
Sage watched the human boy through his peephole. The boy looked to be around thirteen or so, which made him the same age as Sage. It was hard to tell though since humans were so much bigger.
If Sage’s parents were still around they would probably have been angry with him for watching a human like this. All it would take is one sneeze caused by the dust inside the walls at just the right moment, and Sage would be discovered.
But, his parents weren’t around anymore.
Sage had already borrowed plenty of food for the next week. For that matter he also had plenty of supplies like yarn and paperclips as well.
This led to Sage being b
“Andrew darling!”
Drew sighed.
Honestly, was it really that hard to remember? Why would no one call him what he wanted to be called? People were perfectly willing to call Dad ‘Andy.’
But there was no sense in making trouble about it. So, he turned around and looked at Mrs. Cormack.
The little woman was running up behind him across this floor’s central plaza, with Annabelle in tow. Drew barely stopped a frown. Annabelle was the only other borrower in this sanctuary that was close to his age. She was also an insufferably spoiled brat. That probably came from having been raised in the sanctuary her whole life.
“Stupid midget giant.” Evan glanced around the boulder he was hiding behind and nearly got his head taken off by a rock the size of his fist. The boss was a nephilim. A juvenile giant that looked like a stone grey overgrown ten-year-old. This one was about seven feet tall, and they got bigger as they got older. It was guarding the entrance to the exit portal that Evan needed to leave this dungeon. The boulder at Evan’s back shook as the giant threw a rock at it. So far, this dungeon hadn’t been too bad. It had just been nephilim like this mob. That’s what they called the dungeon guards, mobs. Unlike this mob, the others were slow and easy to predict. Therefore, easy to take down. This one was nearly as fast as Evan himself, though thankfully it used the same attack patterns as the others. Evan took a breath, nodded to himself, and moved. He feinted left, then dashed right, around the boulder. The boss fell for his feint and the rock flew left of the boulder. Evan sprinted for the
Tom took a deep breath, and released it. “Here goes nothing.” He reached up and knocked on the ornately carved wooden door. He was pleased he could reach it, proof that this was a halfling home. The knocks echoed back into the large house, and Tom forced himself to not get too worried yet. Tom couldn’t believe his luck in landing this job. He had just been looking for something to keep himself busy and make a little extra money this summer. What he had found though was nothing short of amazing. The ad had been simple: “In search of babysitter for six year old boy. Pay is negotiable. Discretion required. If interested please contact Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carnahan.” Tom actually had quite a reputation as a babysitter around his town. He was a halfling, so all the kids loved to play with him because he was around their size. Alright, technically he was usually quite a bit smaller than them, even though most of them were halflings like him. But he had a way with kids, so they never just

The Giant's Halfling (Hug a Giant Day 2021)
The halfling’s face was the first thing the giant remembered after he was born. Giant whelps are born able to walk and talk, thanks to spending nearly five years in their mother’s wombs. The walking is more of an instinct than anything else. But the talking comes from listening to their mothers speak, and eventually even being able to talk back to her. The whelp had been expecting to see his mother’s face first upon entering world outside his mother. Instead, he saw the face of someone that was even smaller than he was. That was what stood out the most to him about the man. Giant whelps are usually born between three and four feet tall. He was particularly tall and this halfling was particularly short. Not even three feet tall. He was already a full head taller than the halfling was. “Master,” the halfling spoke, as he approached the whelp with something in his hands. This was the first voice he heard outside of his mother. The halflings voice was quiet and soft. It didn’t shake
Spoiler Warning/Author's Note So! I got bored one day and was like, "Hey, I'm going to play through a bit DnD module with my characters from my homunculus story! Because that will be fun." Then I did. I decided to start sharing it today because today's my birthday and I wanted to do something fun for y'all. However, let it be known that I certainly did not come up with the main story plot for this. It is in fact based on The Lost Mines of Phandelver module that was made and published by Wizards of the Coast. So if you don't want spoilery stuff for that module, you probably shouldn't read this. Other than that, I hope you enjoy it! Firenze11 --- Day 1 – Zac “Are we there yet?” Zac whined. They’d been on this trail forever! Worse, they hadn’t run into a single highwaymen or monster. The fourteen-year-old looked like a human, currently. He had tanned skin with deep red hair, and stood a bit above five feet tall. The maul hanging loosely and easily on his back proved that he was

1 – Dawnday, the 8th of Phoenix Spring, 2050 - Max The dungeon’s walls rumbled around Max as he dashed toward his room. The black rock that formed those walls as well as the ground under his feet glowed with a dark inner flame that lit his way. The air of his Master’s hallways was smokey, though Max’s lungs were used to it. That, combined with a dungeon’s natural heavy atmosphere, always seemed to weigh on Max. Pushing him down into the stony floor. And it was even more intense today than normal. The dungeon shook around him again, and his foot caught on a rut. He manifested his wings, and what looked to be feathery limbs made of fire and light sprang from his shoulder blades. Sadly, they weren’t strong enough yet to fly with for more than a few seconds. But that was plenty long enough to make sure he didn’t faceplant into the dully glowing black floor. They also helped him skid to a halt into his room as he looked around for his brothers. The room he and his brothers shared was
2 – Mornday, the 9th of Phoenix Spring, 2050 - Max Ian’s stomach let loose a hollow grumble. “I’m hungry too,” Zac whined. Max opened his mouth to deny their implied request to go outside, only for his own stomach to voice its agreement. He stared down at his offending belly, but sighed, “Alright, I’m hungry too. It must have been our bond with Zane,” the twins twitched, “and his dungeon.” Max had to force himself to use his former master’s name. It still send a thrill fear of ice down his spine every time he did it. But he was trying to prove that he, Ian and Zac were truly free of him. They hadn’t joined him yet. While they had been in the dungeon, still bound to their former Master’s will, they hadn’t ever needed to eat or drink anything. Something about the connection that had been formed between the three boys and the dungeon they had been placed in had removed that necessity. “Well,” Zac looked around the vast open room surrounding them. They had been leaning up against the

1 – 6 A.M. Monday, September 26th, 2050 Tore dashed up to the edge of the boss room and bowed low to his mistress. He was only wearing shorts, with sandals that wrapped up the shins, leaving his bare knees on the rough ground under him. The corrupted fey giant before him only allowed that bit of clothing, and bits and pieces of leather armor mostly on his arms. According to her, anything more ruined the view. His mistress towered over him. She didn’t allow him or his brothers to ever grow taller than she was, meaning that they were always a lower tier than she was. Her ashen grey skin was testament to her corruption, as was the madness in her eyes. “Mistress.” Tore announced his presence. He had to speak loudly to make sure she could hear him. She was not good at listening for her vassals. Sure enough, his mistress started a bit when he spoke. She held up a hand to her heart and looked at him with wide eyes. “Tore, my darling, didn’t I task you with guarding the entrance?” Tore
3 – 6:15 A.M. Monday, September 26th, 2050 Tore crashed into the ground face first, and the pain drove everything else out of his mind for a moment. But only a moment, as he felt someone step on the middle of his back. “Mistress?” Tore asked. “You dare speak to me?” Shel asked quietly. “After what you almost did?” Tore opened his mouth to apologize, but Shel moved her foot to the back of Tore’s head shoving it into the gravel. Tore’s mouth slammed shut, rattling his teeth. “No.” Shel said. “You will not speak. I gave you an order, and you refused to follow it. I don’t care how close you are to these mobs.” Shel waved at Tore’s hand which was clutching his brothers’ mob crystals. “They are tools, just like you are. They are a means to get me what I want, just like you are. Because of you, I almost died in my top tier equipment. Do you have any idea how much that would have set me back?” Tore had learned his lesson. He kept his eyes on the ground and didn’t move an inch or make a
Chunk!
Max jerked around in his hammock and fell out. Thankfully the hammock was only a few inches off the ground. A few inches was a decent fall when you were only five and a half inches tall though.
Max grunted as he stood up and rubbed his slightly sore back. He looked around trying to figure out what the noise had been. The cold gave it away. He could feel it seeping into his body already and felt the hairs on his arms starting to rise up.
Max walked over to one of the two human sized dressers that made up half the wall of his little ‘room.’ He slipped under it easily and came out into the room proper. Yup, sure enough, the

Levi
Levi finally reached his apartment. He hesitated for a few seconds, trying to figure out how to enter his code to get into the building with the kid in his hands. With a frustrated grunt he just went for it. He quickly entering his code to unlock the door and got inside as fast as he could. Levi immediately covered up the kid once he was done. Troop dutifully followed him up the stairs to their room as he held the door open with his foot.
Since he was in the warmer hallways of the apartment building, Levi didn’t feel as bad about having to uncover the kid in his hand to grab his keys. He got the door open without any trouble and
Max
Fear clenched Max’s heart as the human walked toward Max’s supposed safe place. Max could feel the tremors through the floor with each footstep. Something was strange though. This human’s footsteps were a lot quieter than his master’s had been, even though this human was a bit bigger. His master had always been incredibly noisy to Max’s ears. This one was almost quiet in comparison.
The human sat down on the couch. The couch barely sagged at all to Max’s relief. The human swung his legs up and got himself settled. Max’s fear didn’t let him move until he heard the human’s breathing se
Levi
Levi shut the game down in frustration. He was distracted and he knew it. He wasn’t able to focus like he needed to in order to watch for bugs and glitches. It had been a week since he had found the kid in the alley. Levi was pretty sure at this point that the kid wasn’t around anymore. He was still leaving food out, but it was difficult for Levi to tell if any had been taken.
Levi had thought about leaving just a little bit out so that he could figure out if the kid was still around. But he was afraid that would cause the kid to stop taking the food if he was still here. Levi got up and went into the kitchen to whip himsel
Max
Max saw Levi’s gigantic eyes widen in surprise. Clearly the human wasn’t expecting that answer.
“Your brothers?”
Max felt the answer come out of his lips before he could even try to fight it this time. “Well, I don’t think they are my biological brothers. But they are like my little brothers.”
Levi sat back in his chair. Max winced as the chair creaked and squeaked.
“Well, at least I understand why you’re so determined then.” The human said. “I would do anything for my brother and sister.”
“So you’ll free me from the Lifebond then?” Max asked.
Levi
Levi took a deep breath as he opened the door. Standing there was his sister Chloe.
“Hey sis.”
“Hey Levi,” she gave him a nod. Levi recognized something was wrong right away. Her classic blue eyes held something that Levi rarely saw in them, guilt.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well,” She started, twirling a strand of her blonde hair.
Another shorter person shot around Chloe trying to get into the apartment. Levi sighed and whipped his arm out snagging his little brother. He promptly put him into a headlock and asked calmly.
“Matty, were you listening in on our private conversations a
