A Dream Is A Wish - Cinderella by FireLilyCosplay A Dream Is A Wish - Cinderella by FireLilyCosplay
Costume made and modeled by :iconfirelilycosplay:
Photographer: Darkain MultiMedia ( www.facebook.com/DarkainMultim… )

I have been wanting to make Cinderella's ball gown for a while, but the original version from the Disney animated film, which is white and silver.

I used a very pale silver satin with a silver glitter tulle overlay for the dress, and a double layer of sheer white voile for the sleeves and peplum.  The gloves were made from a matte white stretch knit fabric.  I styled the wig into a French Twist and top curls using a multi-toned dark blonde wig.  And I do have the glass slippers, which were modified from a pair of clear vinyl heels - I covered them with clear glitter for a frosted look and added clear heart cabochons.

I'm very happy with this costume and I love seeing kids react to the Princess Effect :D  I can't wait to wear this some more!

Ironically even though the original grown was sliversly white. It kinda looks like a wedding gown.

It is. It's her mother's wedding gown in the original story.

Cinderella is my favorite character. I love this Cinderella ball gown cosplay. Almost everything looks perfect. The three big curls in her hair-do, the earrings that almost completely cover her ears along with her hair, and you even nailed the three pleats in her skirt! All I would say is perhaps have added way more sparkles because her dress sparkles like everywhere in the film, and also something about her peplum, or bustle, or whatever it is, doesn't look that much like the film's. In the film it looks like two puffy clouds with like a big poof near the hips over less poof that tapers down to the skirt. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about. I guess I mean I would think it would be more like two ovals filled with stuffing, and there's like an extra bit of stuffing near the hips. Like a circle near the hips with a lot of stuffing, on top of an oval with less stuffing. Anyway, I wanted to ask where you heard that in the original story Cinderella wore her mother's wedding gown. I am a huge Cinderella aficiando and I never heard that. If you go by the Charles Perrault version which Walt Disney's Cinderella is based on, in that story Cinderella's fairy godmother turned her work rags into a gown of silver, gold, and jewels. In the Grimm's version, a silver and gold dress is magically made by the tree at Cinderella's mother's grave. In a version of the story earlier than both, I read that from a bush (probably also planted at Cinderella's mother's grave, but I forget) came three dresses for Cinderella to wear to each of the three nights of the ball. But in no "original" version I ever heard Cinderella wore her mother's wedding gown.

Gee, I'm so glad I almost live up to your expectations for the costume. I guess 3 out of 5 isn't bad. Man, I thought after sewing for 12 years I would have figured out how to make my costumes as perfectly accurate, 2-D into 3-D creations! I guess I fail, huh? Especially considering this dress is now 2 years old, I'm not inclined to "improve" it.

In regards to your question, I had a book as a child of Aschenputtel that had the birds give "Cinderella" her mother's wedding dress as she cried over her mother's grave wanting to go to the ball. Maybe you also know that the original archetype of Cinderella's story is Chinese? And that there are similar stories from Korea, Vietnam, and Arabia? Dude, DA is not the place to mansplain...

This is so beautiful; my grandmother would have loved to see this. Her FAVORITE princess was Cinderella and she loved the ice blue ballgown most. I always get really teary eyed now whenever I see someone cosplay Cinderella now because she passed away in June and you do her so beautifully. I was really excited when I saw progress photos because I knew you'd do her justice.

You did a beautiful job, Tarisa.
